  • In the first 5 minutes you could see the huge energy mis-match, was sort of inevitable for me at that point, but you never know if you can survive those high energy periods.. but then the 12-pt turn-around from LKT, losing a winger early, and letting them score in the 37th and 79th minute, right on the breaks.. was just a sh*t sandwich.. really led to the blowout score-line which we had done so well to avoid until this point.
  • I mentioned before the game that the forward injury situation is at breaking point, we wouldn't be able to stay in games from here on if things went against us, like they did yesterday.. we just cant afford our good defenders who can do high minutes to be out.. i.e. Egan, Ryan and Sua.. the rest are fine.. an impact forward like Tonga or Lawrie, Guler or Sele is whatever, but the big dogs need to be there.. and as such we also cant afford not to have Toby anywhere other than starting prop.
  • If I had 1 criticism it was that Nick should have played Right 2nd Row.. we have 2 good kids in that exact position.. just play em.. if he misses some tackles so be it.. we cant just pick safe experience average players as a short-term fix every time...nor steal Toby.. we need to start backing good 19-20yr olds when we have em.. I mean I say that.. but they also need to get dropped back if they dont step up.. its not a free ride.. winning games this year is still the ultimate goal, but I cant really say many of the 'safe' options worked out positively as the alternative.
  • Bit cranky at the extension of CT atm too.. I guess if hes fit hes alright, but him or Feagai I would have been alright with, but both of them.. plus Sloan is 3 average wingers + Rava + Lawson is only a project also.... thats 16% of the roster... there are heaps of good wingers at other clubs, some that can play fullback or ctr.. but we would have to have a first grade spot free to make it happen... the easiest spot to recruit also.
  • Also need to get Heidke into cup asap, hes our only Bostock looking outside back I can see in the next 2-3years.. these are the guys we need to be bringing in as injury cover asap.

In his presser Shane Flanagan said his team can only blame themselves for their poor performance.

No coach you shudda said the buck stops with me and I cop the blame because of my inability to have my team playing consistently and being unable to instill a winning culture into my players. I make no excuses as our last two wins before this debacle was with basicly the same 17. Also my constant chopping and changing and ignoring some players for lesser ones , plus blokes playing nervous over whether I will play them in the same position or if I will even play them again next week, only provides us with no team cohesion.
That is what you needed to be telling the league scribes Shane Flanagan..
I'm very frustrated with Flanno for his very obvious preference for one player in particular but this was coming. Too many injuries forcing Flanno to go with Lawrie and RFM who are no longer first grade standard. Then CTs injury. An off night for a number of players. Perfect storm of problems. Lets see how they bounce back.

In the press conference Flanno talked about what Ron Massey, coached last game in 1983 and Jack Gibson, coached last game in 1987 used to do in regard to taking the 2 points in the first 2 minutes.

Earlier he was talking about Kyle has been one of our best:ROFLMAO:. Kyle is bad but is he better than Ilias? Might be. But he most certainly hasn't been one of our best. I was a bit undecided. Thought so far he's been below average but it was mostly because of the roster he inherited. I'm still undecided but that comment was ridiculous. And I hate the Dragons tradition of fans giving coaches too much benefit of the doubt for too long. Pressure should be on Flanno now.
