To me it is extremely important whoever you do choose must apart from the normal qualifications any 1sts team coach must have, is the ability to attract players of quality to come and play under him and for our great club.Perfect opportunity for 2027 and moving forward to bring in a fresh coach, no ties to the club. Whether that’s Brad Arthur, John Morris, Peter Wallace. Just start fresh, no agendas either side. Let’s hope they make the right choice for the sake of all of us
I meant average in the old fashioned sense of neither here or there. To be average with the rabble Flanno left behind is overacheiving. If results are average why would he retain the assistant job
I mentioned him earlier today on another forum
He's had my vote since the start.
I hope it's true. I'm happy with him or Arthur. Wallace rounded out my third pick. I'd be happy with any of those 3.He's had my vote since the start.
Paired with Talau I reckon he'd be set.
Totally agree Dragsters with what you have said here.Cheika, Talau and Wallace would be a dream team but not sure that we could lure Wallace as an assistant as it would be sideways move for him and early talk of both Cleary's to the feather dusters he's probably a chance of the top job at the pennys.
I'm warming to that as well. My first choice was Brad Arthur but warming to Cheika.A lot more talk around today re Cheika coming to us.
Robinson saying that he "is ready to go" and has the "mindset and skillset" when asked about our job.
Sounds like Cheika wants it if we decide to go that way...
Just don't tell me he has a son in his late teens or 20s.I'm warming to that as well. My first choice was Brad Arthur but warming to Cheika.
Mug Fan mentioned a couple of weeks ago how he was a good man-manager. Even if his technical knowledge isn't on a par with some coaches due to his background in rugby, with a couple of technically minded assistants, like Talau and Young, it should work well. In theory anyway.I'm warming to that as well. My first choice was Brad Arthur but warming to Cheika.
Dean has said and done the right things in his first few days but lets not lose sight of the fact he has been an assistant these last 2 years. What was he doing? Just accepting Flanno's diktats without challenging him at all? That's how it looks to me.Was thinking it probably helps that the cowboys and Payten win some games to prevent them making a call on potentially getting Dean Houng as their new HC
Gives us more time to assess and really cast the net far and wide. Wouldn’t be helpful for us if cowboys lose 3 in a row and Payten gets the Bullet and by round 13-14 they’ve decided Dean Young is their guy before we feel comfortable deciding on that
