They are paying huge money to have TPJ play in the NSW Cup. Still paying a good part of Cotric's salary for him to play at Canberra. Paid fullback money for JAC to play on the wing. Reportedly easily outbid Parramatta and Penrith respectively for Mahony and Kikau. They have been whining about Luke Thompson being overpaid for the last 2 years.

I don't see how they could match out 700K offer but good luck to them. I don't think Burton, who is a better centre than 5/8, is a good organising halves partner for Hunt. Just as long as they don't get Sullivan. At least not before he's had more than one chance to show what he can do at halfback. Hopefully starting from tomorrow though I won't hold my breathe waiting for it to happen with this coach and as long as Hunt wants to play halfback.

Canterbury are one of those clubs who traditionally have very good accountants. Not on the level of the Roosters but still quite good. I wouldn't rule out them singing him.

The glaring issue to me is that the club is financially secure its the inept accounting that has caused us, and I believe that we are the only club that presently has a salary cap freeze. How does that happen? It most certainly in my view has restricted the blooding of some of our young rising stars and caused us to become uncompetitive.

They are all in the top 30 or on development deals so there is no reason other than the coaches stubborn stupidity why they haven't been given more a chance or a chance in first grade. Though Hunt had a chance and is seriously unfit. Not suitable for first grade.

Muhleisen isn't on a development contract. I'm not sure the coaching staff really rate him.

Absolutely agree 100%. But with the salary cap as it is now. If it rises from 9.4 mil to 10.5 mil, I think Hunt is worth 800k to play hooker unless Sullivan isn't what we hope in which case, Hunt can go back to halfback. But IMO, that's being generous. It's a deal Hunt should rush to sign.

700k now. 750k if the cap rises. Remember we aren't talking about next year but the year after and year after that when he'll be 34 and 35.
