Not just wishful thinking but dependent on how much the WIN Group is willing to spend. Politis is willing to spend any amount on the Rorters and has less than WIN so......... not just wishful thinking.
Well, the Rorters are a NRL superpower right now and they don't have the supporters or the junior base. As a matter of fact, in the long term I'm not sure how successful their business model will be. I think and hope this period will be looked upon as their golden age and a long, dark winter followed close behind.

The WIN corporation need to step up. We have an extremely large catchment area its about financial support for our grass roots . As we can clearly see with the likes of Sloane Amone Sullivan Feigai bros its there. Identifying retaining talented young players giving them clear pathways, being professional from grass roots up to 1st grade having the right people in the right positions but never ever lose that family feel for a factory floor feel people respond to nurturing made to feel that they are part of a family not just another number passing along the conveyor belt. Just my view

I agree 100% but they will only make it about a business decision. IMO it'd be a very sound investment but that's just me.

And get a few young ring-ins like De Belin who is from some little town out west.

I think he's from Dubbo, which is pretty much the most westward significant population centre before it's too dry.
Close. Only about 800km away. He's from Cootamundra which is much closer to Canberra than Wollongong. De Belin himself went to boarding school in Campbelltown.

From the club's perspective, I don't think it changes much. If there isn't significant improvement this year, Hook will get paid to do nothing for a year.

Glad he was extended. I also feel he has the club heading in the right direction.
I just hope he has a plan the board agrees with. Because the extended Price and McGregor as well. I think they extended McGregor twice, didn't they?

Shane Flanagan makes NRL return as St George Illawarra Dragons swoop on premiership-winning coach

Exiled premiership-winning coach Shane Flanagan has returned to the NRL fold with the Dragons as a list management consultant. Flanagan was stood down from holding a head coach position until this year due to breaches of his one-year suspension in 2014 for involvement in the Sharks’ peptide scandal. Flanagan worked as an assistant coach at the Dragons in 2020 before being let go following the appointment of current coach Anthony Griffin.

Dragons general manager of football Ben Haran said Flanagan’s focus will be on strengthening the club’s NRL and development player squads. “To have someone of Shane’s calibre return to the Dragons will only complement our football program, particularly in the dynamic environment that is list management,” Haran said.

“Shane will work closely with the club’s recruitment and retention committee to ensure the Dragons’ list remains competitive for many years to come. “In my time previously working with Shane he clearly demonstrated his vast rugby league knowledge and connections throughout the game. We look forward to him returning to the Dragons.”

This can't but be good news. To have such a coach with such credentials recruiting and working with young players coming though the ranks.

Having a premiership winning coach in such a position is a coup for the club.

St George Illawarra Dragons appoint Shane Flanagan as new list manager

Former St George Illawarra Dragons assistent coach Shane Flanagan has been handed a key role in resetting the roster at the club.

Shane Flanagan has returned to St George Illawarra Dragons. In a strategic move by Saints, Flanagan will have a say on the future of the club’s biggest stars, appointed as the club’s list management consultant. In a St George-Illawarra club statement, it has been revealed Flanagan, who has previously worked with former coach Paul McGregor as an assistant coach at the Dragons, will commence his consultancy role with immediate effect. Dragons general manager of football Ben Haran said Flanagan’s focus will sit firmly on the strengthening of the club’s NRL and development player squads.

We look forward to him returning to the Dragons.” Ian Milward will remain at the Red V as Pathways Director; overseeing all recruitment and retention activities pertinent to the Dragons Academy, junior representative and external pathways.

I said on another thread, at least off the field, the club seems to have really gotten its act together.

Not sure where but I've heard it before that, "winning starts in the front office".

By having people who are highly respected in positions such as these can only attract players of quality to the club. The success of any business starts at management level/ front office then its up to the players to perform on the paddock. For the first time in many years there is pressure on the incumbent player to perform knowing if he doesn't then there is someone just as capable in taking his spot. Looking forward to tonight charity shield game

To be honest...... I had a sneaky suspicion that you are actually Shane Flanagan. Not true?
