Josh McGuire: Pick up from where you left off last year, hopefully better with more support from the rest of the pack. Keep getting under the skin of the other teams but not so much that he keeps getting suspended.

Jacksion Ford and Jack Gosiewski: When you get a chance, the new rules should help smaller forwards coming off the bench. Prove it and earn another contract.
Moga?

That's 26 of the 29 contracted. Who are we missing?

Josh Kerr
Josh Kerr: RUN HARD AND DON'T SURRENDER IN THE TACKLE AS SOON AS CONTACT IS MADE BUT KEEP THE LEGS PUMPING.

Griffin needs to tell Kerr he is done at St George if he's guilty of not doing the above unless in exceptional circumstances.

That guy drives me crazy! If only we could put Jackson Ford in Kerr's body.

All caps! Good stuff. I love it when Saints fans fire up. Next time I suggest SOMETHING LIKE THIS.
As for Josh Kerr, someone needs to fire him up or his career won't last long.

I wear my heart on my sleeve.

Too negative on Su'A. As far as I know, he got dropped last year due to going missing. Bennett was making a point that he can't do that. When he was recalled (I think after only 1 week) he was much better.

Mbye is a good depth signing. If Macca goes down, I think Mbye will be hooker.

Woods isn't going to break many tackles. He is going to drag defenders for 5 metres, fall on his front and get a quick play the ball and play long minutes. To expect more from him is unrealistic.

If Bird is going to start in the forwards, assuming that JDB and Lawrie are going to start as props, that pack will be too small.
My view dont destroy or shorten JDB career by even considering playing him at prop and Lawrie I have always believed since he cracked 1st grade that he was a 2nd rower. Now we have Burgess Woods and Molo we have the opportunity to give him a run in 2nd row if needed or keep him at prop in a 4 man rotation. I really believe Bird deserves a starting spot so if its in the pack then lock/2nd row. What a wonderful problem to have this season

Is Lawrie mobile enough, not only in straight-line speed but in changing direction, to play in the backrow?

I agree with De Belin. He's an excellent lock. Maybe in his last year he might make a move to prop but for now, definitely a lock.

Lawrie is an old-school front-rower. Other than that, this makes a lot of sense. I thought he might go with 3 front rowers but now I've reconsidered. I think Lawrie, Woods, Burgess and Molo in the 17 might be best. Give our halves room to wreak havoc. I think one of them is going to drop out after McGuire returns in round 6. Usually after 6 rounds front-rowers would be starting to pick up a few niggling injuries so it'll be good if one or the other can take a week or two off.

So we have: Poasa Faamausili
Daniel Alvaro
Jaiyden Hunt
to round out what is required of the 29 contracted for this season so far. RedV01 RedV01 is going to have a stab at it?

Sure.
Poasa Faamausili: Utterly useless in defence and attack. Did Griffin sign him? If so, he screwed up. Required to do enough to stay in the NSW Cup best 17.

Daniel Alvaro: Can't see him getting much NRL time unless we have a stack of injuries. Required to stay in shape in the NSW Cup in case there is a stack of injuries.

Jaiyden Hunt: I've heard the name before but that's the extent of what I know about him. Can't say what we should expect fom him.

I just checked the webpage to see about Jaiyden Hunt. While I was looking, I checked the weight of a few backs. Rava is listed at 106kg!!! Could always give him a go in the backrow if things aren't working out.

Look I like Lawrie any coach would because he punches above his weight he's a workhorse. Is he going to break the line the way he runs now? not likely so yes there is an issue the way he plays running in a straight line however he's only young you can still develop him into playing with more flexibility running an angle takes work but can be done. Otherwise you determine he is permanently part of the 4 props rotation system and play him accordingly

Thats how I have looked at it based on our recruitment. There is absolutely nothing wrong with having the ability to rest players because especially at SOO time where I would suggest we would have a couple of players chosen definitely Hunt and Debelin perhaps Sims . So resting Lawrie and Burgess would be ideal. I believe depth is so important this season because of covid you just don't know what will happen but you should definitely have a number of contingency plans to include this

I'm sold on 4 front-rowers as well. At least for the opening few rounds when it might be time to reassess. It'll be nice to have McGuire ready to come back so the four of Burgess, Woods, Lawrie, Molo are trying to out-do each other in the first few rounds or face the prospect of being dropped. It does make sense to hace 4 big guys smashing it up the middle for the entire game provided they have the stamina to properly do their job on hte other side of the ball. That might be an achilles heel for Burgess in particular.

I like the idea (4 props) as well but I wouldn't be so quick to pencil it in for round 1. After around 30min, don't you think a smaller quicker guy like Jack Bird migh be able to make better better metres than a bigger, slower guy? And in defence, after around 30min Bird will definitely be better. And Bird is just an example. Jackson Ford and Fuimaono are others.

Both strategies should be tried in the trails.

Both should be tried in the trails. Of course. But I'm guessing 4 props is going to work out best.

If you can't get 20 min each half from professional 1st graders then they shouldn't be playing 1sts. Out of the 4 Burgess is the most likely to pick up an injury due to his operation and time off from playing. Ball retention will be crucial because defensively he will be lacking.
