This blog is a joke. No actual play.. line breaks and the like mentioned.. only replacements, tries and conversions.

A solid lead by us at the break with the game played in Eagles territory.

They scored a vital try while Gosie was in the sin bin. Not good.

Lobb may have sealed the deal with his second. Cryer has only landed one of five conversions.

Dragons add two extra tries to now have an unassailable lead with 10 left on the clock.

Full time 34-16. Lobb and Sloan both bagged a pair.

A late try and last of the match by the opposition when you have such a commanding lead.. sure leaves a sour taste in the mouth.

Just took a look at the 1 half min Ressies match scraps. Halve pairing of Cryer and Herring looked more than capable. Cryer picked for his goal kicking failed miserably but a couple of pin point bombs provided tries. In one move that led to a four pointer Herring put in a neat chip regathered then sent a flying Sloan under the posts. That is the type of enterprise we need to see from our up and coming halves.

How old are they are?

  • Everyone is talking about Jack Gosiewski being out of favour but of course Fuimaono is anther who has fallen way down the order.
  • Toby Couchman will almost certainly go back to Jersey Flegg when NRL reserves go back to NSW Cup.
  • Ditto for Josh Coric though he might be in the bench in NSW Cup.
  • Sam McCann has been a starting winger for the entire season until now while Alexander Lobb seems to have cemented his place in the NSW Cup team.
  • Trey Barlow is a new name. I think Treigh Stewart has been starting 5/8 the entire season until now. May be injured.
  • Bennetts big signing, Jack Bostock has cemented his move from the centres to the wing. Not sure how to feel about that. May be a powerful ball running with little skill.

Who is that winger that plays for Manly but used to be a Dragons junior? Maybe Bostock is similar to him.

Eric Eric Think you will find Zach Herring/ Braxton Wallace have been the Flegg starting halves for much of the season. Herring now promoted to partner Cryer in Ressies, their goal kicker. Missed five from six last match. Need better, plus I dont see much ball skill either. Perhaps time to again partner Herring and Wallace in Ressies.

I was working all day today. Not a bad thing when I see the scores. The good news is that the Jersey Flegg team broke a two game losing streak by beating the runaway competition leaders. I think for the second time this year. I think the only games the Jersey Flegg Rorters have lost all year is twice against us!

Some light at the end of the tunnel. Though a big jump between Jersey Flegg and NRL.

Lots of backs getting promoted or moved around to get closer to the action and get their hands on the ball more often. As for the forwards, it's a mystery. J. Hunt is going to get promoted next year but other than that, no idea which forwards are going to play first grade.
I'm having trouble understanding why extending Amone isn't the highest priority.
Perhaps somebody else has realised what I have realised after watching him closely against the ponies. He just hasn't been able to take that last step to being a 1st grader unfortunately

The Dragons/Illawarra area is a wonderful catchment area for young footballers . There is nothing wrong with our juniors its the progression from juniors to reserves then to 1sts that has seen us lose talented juniors to other clubs and failing to mould what is left unpoached into regular 1st graders.

  • Everyone is rightly talking about forwards we hope are coming through the ranks but I wonder if they have any backs penciled in for the NRL? Thinking specifically Treigh Stewart and Alexander Lobb.
  • Interesting forward pack. Word is Kerr is trying to leave a year early. I can't imagine the club would be desperate to keep him. The #8, 11, 12 all off contract and apparently on their way out.
  • Not much going on otherwise. Last week Declan Purcell went back to Jersey Flegg but interestingly Sloan played on the wing to make way for Treigh Stewart.
  • A few new names, aren't there? #4 Hayden Budd for example.
  • Sam Hooper is back at 5/8 and another new name at hooker though last week Declan Purcell went back to Jersey Flegg (despite being selected in the NSW Cup) so that will probably happen this week as well.
  • I must be mistaken. I thought #12 was supposed to be a middle forward and #10 an edge forward.
