Burgess must really be on the outer. I guess Kerr and J. Hunt are going to come back from reserves to play prop. So Burgess on the bench at best. Ditto for Ford who I presume will make way for Billy Burns. Alexander Lobb will go back to Flegg to make way for Moga. No surprises here. Expect a much better defensive effort this week.	I don't know what's going on with the 8 man interchange bench. Coric and Lobb at least will come back to play from the NSW Cup barring a sudden injury catastrophe. So why do they need 8? Shereb, who along with Coric are the last men standing from the young forwards we hoped were going to make it is back at lock now. His position is backrow, was dropped from NSW Cup backrow to Flegg prop and now lock. Who is Declan Purcell? They obviously have a high opinion of him.

Griffin keeps talking about the young players the club has re-signed. Sims is gone, Woods struggling badly now let alone next year. No news at all about any recruitment of any current first grade players from other clubs. I'd like to know who the coach has in mind. I presume J. Hunt for Woods but who for Sims? And surely Bird can't get away with the form he has so far shown this year for another year. Ditto for Lawrie.

Defensive display? They are unaware what is required, discipline, talk, line speed, trusting comes to mind. Burgess is too busy preparing for his court case to be worried about playing

He also had pretty good games in regard to running metres against Warriors and Newcastle. If you take away the games against those 3 poor teams, his running metres are absolutely atrocious. As for defence, he has the 21st most missed tackles in the competition, the most for a prop, 4th for the Dragons behind Hunt, Bird (who I've been even more critical about) Amone. And we all know about Lawrie's passing/offloading or lack of.

Instead of sending him back to Flegg why not give him a crack in the run on side.. for Burgess as he is better as a bench impact player. J Hunt to also start. These blokes picked in the 17 must feel like distant cousins.. not sure where they belong.

There is a theory which I guess I agree with that to put a young player in too soon takes away from his development.

Agree until that 1 game against Souths he has been a hard trier but very ordinary in moving the team forwards. In 2020 he was actually very good played 20 games avg 134m, last year 21 games and avg 108 m again good, this year so far before last week was avg 96m so as you can see he is unfortunately becoming less and less effective but I would still have him in my 17 off the bench.

Unfortunately Amone has done that a few times. Specially in the early part of the season. Seems to be getting better recently.

The issue here is that it impacts the defensive line when you don't have trust in your player to actually make the tackle

Personally I'm not critical of him. I'm critical of the coach for picking him as a starting prop when he'd be far better off the bench. When he came off the bench in a few games earlier this season, he was good.

He can shut everyone up by running for well over 100m this round as well so that would probably put him over 100m average. But then again, a little over 100m average together with no passing/offloading and lots of missed tackles isn't going to ignite a bidding war for him at the end of this season. I believe rival clubs can make a play for him from November as he is off contract at the end of next year.

Big game for Lawrie against Papali and Tapine. We know JDB won't take a step back so if Lawie can match that, I think it'll go a long way toward winning the game.
