Good to see there’s some quality kids coming through in the forwards + Spine, although I worry about Loko and Latu not being signed ‘long term’ with the Couchman’s contracts not extended atm.

My one issue is they haven’t really looked into signing an elite fullback in the pathways like they did with a #9 - Phillips as the heir to Cook/Liddle.

Think it would make a lot of sense to do so, Oliver Burton looks like a very good Fullback prospect but he is only 15 so still a long way off.

I've heard a lot of good things about Rumble, Borg and Kent.

I know they haven't been out and out stars in the juniors but more often than not, it's the next tier down in juniors who become the best first graders.

Its so hard to pick the fullback whos gonna make it, I reckon its the hardest position bar maybe halfback.. ur responsible for so much offensively and defensively.. gosh I mean the titans have like 4 of em in their system.. and guys like Campbell and AJ that are rep level #1's...but have been surpassed.. ironically by the tiniest dude there.

I was in love with TPH this year (SG Grand Final winning #1), dont ever see kids getting off the ground to make repeat tackles.. and making all the right calls in attack as a playmaker or a ball runner.. made his tackles.. loved it.. and yet boom barely had a good game in flegg all year.. maybe in a few years time ya know.. but in the meantime we have to look elsewhere..... but Borg has been solid I think he has a 2nd year in SG.. not positive.. BRumble has been the man through the grades.. but you just never know till they go up another grade and then can they keep going up? Most cant ya know.. and if they fail, thats a huge opportunity cost to the kid that could have had the jersey.. but thats the nature of the game..

I often wonder what happened to Gromek.. he was one of the kids coming thru I think when Sloan/Ramsey were there.. was surprised he left for the rorters.. hes 23yrs now and still in reserves there, i dont even think hes the first choice reserve though.. but hes 4yrs in front of most of the kids we have... lotta fans thought he was the one also.

I do agree with the sentiments though, we have pushed hard on recruiting forwards, I think too many too quickly.. but I dont think its on purpose.... but gosh I would love some more aggressive backs.. Saifiti^2 is a maybe as a winger.. very short.. but hopefully someone like Burton or Zailen Campbell-Cook is someone Justa said was a standout in SG Ball.. I mean he could be the next one.. but they are all years away.. but hopefully Gutho stays healthy and we are covered till then.

You are right. Rorters reserve fullback is Ethan King. His dad is a huge fan of the movie star Ethan Hawke. Not bad but won't make it in first grade. Maybe become a fring first grader like his dad was.

NRL Schoolboys Cup: Patrician Brothers College powerhouse Jacob Halangahu ready for NRL

“He has that internal drive to make himself the best he possibly can be. That presence, and his confidence on the field, lifts everyone around him.
“As much as he is a great individual player, he makes the teams around him great.”

Love reading this part especially.

That's who the post is about, can't make it too easy for you to work out.
Just making sure it wasnt the left one :p

That was an hour of research that tested all of my available skill.. I still feel dirty having been in some broncos forums.. I have it down to a list of 3 who look mighty similar.. 1 is a prop, 1 is a 2nd rower.. and 1 is also a 2nd rower but highly touted U19 player.. but surely too young given our situation.

I totally misread that situation.. lost player not gained :p

Thats actually really disappointing though.. I thought this might be year, 1 more dev contract.. need a hard forward like that to help all the rookies starting out in NSW Cup.

Imagine us blowing up this time next year that Flanno keeps picking the Couchmans over Halangahu.

I'm bullish on Halangahu transition well to 1st grade because he has great footy iq. He knows when to run, where to run & makes sound defensive decisions. You look at a David Fifita who is more athletically gifted than Halangahu but still lacks footy IQ. It's not just size but how to effectively use that size.

For me the challenge is Jacob played most of the year against schoolboys, where he could win the collision with his body size, but he has to jump up 3 grades yet.. he has to do it against harder faster grown men.. not to say he wont succeed.. and early signs r good.. but its not a sure thing.. and it will probably take a few years... hes also the youngest of that group of prospects...

Longterm if he doesnt make it as a 2nd rower, I still think a low centre of gravity big unit thru the middle, some footwork.. it could work.. but props take even longer to come of age...

Josh Coric
I'm quite bummed, I thought this might be his breakout year in a development position.. but there will be a lot of pressure on Tonga this year + I guess MMolo, Lawrie (if still here) and maybe one of the couchmans who drop back.. maybe Liu, not sure on Webster.. but there is a bit of a changing of the guard of sorts in NSW Cup.

JC started to show some promise in the last few months of the season, after having a few stop start seasons due to injury, possibly his body started to finally develop and mature, a change may be a good thing for him now, also club is starting to make those hard decisions on which players to move on, possibly they don't think his body type is the way forward when you look at Tonga, Lui, Stewart who are all much taller and slim compared to Coric..
Anyway good luck to the kid and who knows maybe in 2 years we start chasing him to come back like Wishart :p

Yep I think Coric just needed a few years injury-free.. props were always meant to need a few more years.. but yah I thought we had 3-4 2025 development positions unaccounted for (which is probably worth more than a QRL contract?), but.. maybe the idea is that all these kids on T&T contracts next year (think there were 6-7 at last count).. are essentially going to compete for those remaining Development contracts... most of those kids have 2026 development contracts already though. I think there is a level of fluidity with juniors.. if they come on faster.. they might get upgraded faster.

If we do get rid of Lawrie.. then perhaps we replace him with another prop anyway.. but tbf if Lawrie & MMolo are playing every round of NSW Cup.... its actually a solid enough base, I dont think either of them will see 1st grade.. especially if we buy 1-2 middles yet.
