He already possesses play making ability. You have seen that as have I. Other than half I see him as a more than handy second hooker. Would our BOD have scouted him from the Qld school system if they did not think he had a future in the game.

He's not only short, but slightly built. I guess not suitable for hooker. If he can play halfback, good news. Lets see how he goes.

my gosh.. the contracts are based on the way the kids played in Flegg this year... TPH had a really poor few games and didnt even get re-selected (he was one of my faves also, but this is reality).

There are really no 'dragons kids' pressing for the top grades bar probably Nick T.... the rest r the imports from penrith or qld.. who are being fast-tracked over the existing crew and meafou etc.. i.e. tonga, latu, jacob, cst..

The nucleus of the Ball Premiers side with only outsider Jake as the leader, shud be front and centre for Flegg this year if our club was fair dinkum in promoting home grown 'dragons kids'. Be interested in seeing how many make the final squad. If a poor turn out then I can not help but sense an Illawarra bias in the jr pathways. Jeez we dont need that in this club.

Their’s no bias, they’ve got Finau Latu and Loko from that Sg ball winning side in the top 30 and Halangahu will likely debut in 2026.
Outside of those 3 there’s a couple decent prospects like Hammoud, Williams and Afu but their still a step down from those guys as prospects.
The St George catchment is small + the demographic has changed a lot. Not many Pacific Islanders in the area, that’s why they’ve had to change their strategy like the Roosters and recruit from outside areas. Their methodology now is a huge improvement. West Sydney recruits sprinkled with a few QLD recruits is a greater chance for success as a club than hoping 17 kids from Arncliffe and Rockdale can beat out the other clubs.

Just a Mug Fan Just a Mug Fan the tele published their list of T&T, there are 4 differences in CST, Kirk missing & Liu & Treweek in.

I cant imagine CST is on anything but T&T, unless hes getting a promotion into that final development spot... Treweek/Liu are in preseason, but I dont think they have contracts of that nature yet?

For those on train and trial deals but too old to play Jersey Flegg for 2025, does it mean they will go back to CRL if they don't get a SL or top 30 deal?

Cyrus is on T&T and I had previously mentioned Jett and Jarrah were.
Tom and Jarrah are one day a week.

All T&T players except Benny are under 21

Thats good to know.. means most of them can/will start the year in SG or Flegg.

BRumble is an interesting one because if Sloan does make it as a 1st grade winger, then Rumble slots straight into the Cup #1 jersey.. if he doesnt.. I think Ben might end up in either ctr or wing or.. he drops back to the next level of competition down.. but wing spots r going to be very very competitive.

The maths i find intriguing.. again assuming we have no injuries.... 18 (+/-1) of the 30 man squad will be required for 1st grade.. that leaves 12 of them in NSW Cup + 6 dev players = 18... so thats NSW Cup full also.. but realistically there are a few players on NSW Cup contracts that probably need to play.. i.e. a Muhleissen.. as the 9 or the 14.. or a Kolo Kolo perhaps.. if we are short a centre...

Thats not including spots for any T&T players like Rumble.. anyone else would have to play down a grade (or SG/Flegg if eligible).. and tbf there are always injuries.

Excatly players are not signed on a grand final appearance or a highlights real or a fans opinion.

Extended squad players from last 2 years of SG Ball
6 Nick Corey Loko Finau Cyrus Jake Dragons.
9 Hamish Dylan LKT Kyan Jett Kade Ben Jarrah Aaymon
Hayden and Jesse T&T too but both injured.
Hardly bias.
Shadi just signed 2 year deal and David were both injured for most of Flegg and only got in a few games. They would of been in consideration otherwise.

Flegg squad has the likes of Shadi David Ice TPH Ryan Ethan Arena Mathew Alhazim in it.
All up that's 11 of the GF squad plus 4 more have another year in SGB
Where's the bias....

Benny has been running at centre in opposed sessions.
You are right as Suli comes back and Lawson joins it will be interesting where Benny ends up playing.
Injures will play a part Corey and BMM won't be ready plus one spot spare maybe Hame too, so that 18 is now 14.

love that.. if BRumble can make a fist of centre (when required).. his value to the squad goes right up.. we lost a lot of that depth i.e. Johnson, Tamale, Bird & MaxF.. not to mention Buchanans injury.

Saifiti Jnr’s management posting this today, does this mean he’s signed a contract that takes him into the top 30?

Very pleased about this, but none are home grown Saints juniors. My main point. Hope I'm wrong about the bias but until I see any or all of Ackers, Hammoud, Te Moananui, Afu, Fagalilo, Smyth, Hikila in the Flegg side, I aint convinced. What has happened to Johnson, a local Saint isnt he? All the hype is about Buchanan, an Illawarra local. Now I dont wanna sound bias but he has not overly impressed me the few times I have seen him, whereas Johnson has.

Buchanan only recently turned 18 and has carved up in SG ball + is an Australian schoolboy and NSW u19 rep. Ben Johnson is a fair bit older and hasn’t looked anywhere near as promising as Buchanan.

Afu was in the Flegg side before his injury and Hammoud will be in Flegg. There will be a fair few St George Juniors in the Flegg side in 2025 and if their good enough they’ll make the jump to NSW cup

I read a few years ago, maybe more like 7 or 8, the basic agreement between St George and Illawarra was that St George will provide the money and Illawarra will provide the players. This seems to be the case though maybe St George have surprised by the number of promising players who have come out of there. But still shouldn't be close to the number Illawarra produce unless St George are recruiting heavily from outside the district.
