Recruitment and Retention for 2023

What the hell are you talking about? Only about a week ago or less, the guy from Fox Sports was recommending the club so after Parramatta reserve grade lock, Nathan Brown. Coach has gone after forwards their current clubs and no others want previously so why not "try" and sign Nathan Brown. I mean, "try" because I don't think he's in high demand.
McGuire is another. I just assumed he had learnt his lesson. Like, 'No, now I understand I'm not a guru who can get a couple more good years out of players no other coach feels has a couple more good years left in him.'

No one knows what's going on. The recruitment and retention decisions are almost completely opaque. At least compared to other clubs. Not sure whether it's good or bad. Maybe neither. It just is what it is.

Our recruiters/retainers are moving far too slowly in tying up Talatau Amone with a long term deal and that is bad news with Bennett sniffing around. I understand that Junior has now been offered only a piddling one year extension which will keep him a Dragon only til 2014. What is going on. If Junior does not take up this deal .. expect Sullivan and Sloan to follow him out the door.

Does the club simply not rate him?

ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA DRAGONS UP THE ANTE FOR AMONE

St George Illawarra have tabled a revised offer to keep Talatau Amone at the club while they have taken more steps to keep impressive prop Michael Molo.

The Dragons are looking to thwart the threat of the Dolphins circling Amone, who will become a free agent from November 1. In trying to do so they have offered Amone a 12-month contract extension, which will keep him at the club until the end of 2024. He is already locked in for next season. It remains to be seen if Amone will take up the new deal. Amone produced his best performance of his young career during the Dragons last-start win against South Sydney.

Meanwhile, Molo’s shot at an NRL career continues after the late-bloomer picked up a new two-year deal with the Dragons. Molo has impressed in his four appearances after being handed a career lifeline when the Dragons gave him a train and trial contract in the pre-season. The 25-year-old – brother of Dragons teammate Francis – worked hard in the summer and forced his way into the top squad. The Bulldogs were circling but Molo will remain with the Dragons.

DT reporting Lodge is set to join the Sydney Rorters. Very predictable. Of course they have a few 100k salary cap space. Dragons can't afford it obviously. We are paying the big $ for Woods, Burgess and Lawrie.

Roosters only have Taukeiaho, JWH (both nearing the end of their contracts so both on big money) and QLD prop Collins. Compare that to Woods, Burgess, Lawrie!

It's almost certain all 3 of Taukeiaho, JWH and Collins are on more than all 4 of Woods, Burgess, Lawrie and Molo. Even if their 4th choice prop is on nothing at all, the Roosters front row rotation is already worth probably twice as much as the Dragons.

I see. Well the thing with Pearce isn't an opinion. They even said at the time. Not outright, 'we no longer rate him' but words to that effect.

As for Cordner, talking of no proof, none at all Cordner was concussed so often there was significant danger of long term cognitive damage if he wasn't medically retired.

But as you say. Just my opinion. I could be wrong. Let's just say it was lucky timing for the Roosters. In his last several games he looked outright frail. Was really getting bashed. I remember it cause I'm not fond of them and I was enjoying the spectacle.
Boom! I think this and this whole exchange needs to be revisited. Keary whose contract was heavily backended and is going to be 1.2mil next year, despite him playing more like a 250~350k half or 5/8 so far this year. Suddenly he is having terrible problems due to repeated concussions and they are talking about medically retiring him even though:

Professor Chris Levi who is recognised as one of the sharpest neuro(logical) experts in the country. He’s examined Luke Keary since this last issue. He told me, while protecting doctor-patient confidentiality, that there’s nothing wrong with Luke Keary to suggest that he needs to medically retire.

Note the neurologist says "nothing wrong to suggest........". There isn't even a suggestion of neurological injury.

There is still lots of news and rumours about player transfers, re-signings, extensions and etc but absolutely nothing about the Dragons. WTF is going on?

Of course except for a few aging fringe first graders who some media pundits urged the Dragons to sign. I guess Griffin has runs on the board in that sense but maybe even will realise we have enough of them now.

Apparently there are lots of juniors coming through. No doubt that's true but as for next year, I can't see who that would be.

I just want say that's (has runs on the board) an excellent metaphor as we all know RedVHeartbeat RedVHeartbeat is a big cricket fan.

Well for starters he is not a Broncos pup from yesteryear.. secondly he is not from north of the border. If Griffin can not see that Amone is fast improving in a position he looked all at sea in only 6 weeks ago.. then he needs a white cane.
