Patience is a virtue. Crichton is playing unhappy hence his poor form exactly the same as our Sims is, on his current form hes at best a 600k pick up. Aitken not worth looking back at, Martin is in the same mould as what we have already plenty of, so not worth wasting the money. I wouldn't be chasing any of them. If Crichton improved perhaps yes that would compliment Sua. Then what do you do with Bird? My view we have enough backrowers we need a big prop and another playmaker. If we could get a package deal from Melbourne with Nelson Asofa- Solomona and Cameron Munster I'd be pretty happy with our team moving forwards. Forget backrowers we have enough.
Don't you think Amone and/or Sullivan is going to make it? I'm starting to wonder if that's what the coach thinks.

Grubs fans are very upset with Luke Thompson. He is on 800k and not even justifying half that. They are saying he is on the way out. Club heavyweights are apparently saying it off the record. Trading Woods or Burgess + 1000k for the remainder of this year and next would be a coup for the Dragons, IMO.

Next year Sims is gone, Burns, Ford and Gosiewski all off contract at the end of this year. That's 4 second rowers gone. Who is going to replace them? And on top of that, I have doubts Bird is going to make it as a second rower.
I'd say that we have enough depth in that position. Time will tell. We have more pressing issues in my view which I believe need addressing

Maybe in a couple of seasons but wouldn't turn down Munster in the form he is in at the moment
Munster is the best player in the competition at present but it comes down to money. IMO Dragons have 2 very promising halves. One with an excellent passing game and one with an excellent running game. IMO Dragons need to spend the money on forwards.

Prop I agree with. We have a ready made replacement hooker in Muhleisen. We're right for backrowers in my view with Hunt, Molo, Ford to name a few. Need another playmaker to take pressure off Hunt. Happy with backs when Sloan comes back in at fullback also Ramsay, Reuben , Moga. I also like the look of the 5/8 Cryer. Just my thoughts.

Hunt and Molo are both middles and Ford is on the way out. Need some edge forwards.

Don't forget I'm old so in my day there was no such thing as edge and middle forwards. In today's game though I describe a middle forward as props, big men who's job it is to gain metres. My 2nd rowers were lighter and could play double the time the props could so stayed on the field for full game unless injured or hooked for non performance. My lock was the best tackler/ ball playing forward. So based on this you need 4 big boppers in your 17 capable of playing 20 min a half each. Your edge forwards (2nd rowers/lock) should be playing 80 min bar injuries with 1 on the bench. You need a ball playing forward in today's game. Until we have those ingredients we can forget being a competitive top 4 team. Just my humble views.

Well that pretty much describes modern props, second rowers and locks. Edge forwards are typically quite fast. Hopefully M. Molo and J. Hunt are good middle forwards from later this year to join F. Molo and Lawrie. So that would leave second rowers. At this stage, only Su'a and Bird are signed but as I have stated previously, I have my doubts Bird is going to make it as a second rower.

That's a nice dream but one the Dogs wouldn't go for. They moved on Woods 3 or 4 years ago. Doubtful they'd want him now. Would probably just have to throw in more money. If he's on 800k, I'd guess the Dogs won't let him go for less than 400k and he's probably only worth about 500k so it wouldn't be such a big deal.

400k for this year and next and then 500k for the year after that would be well worth it, IMO.

Not according to how he played last night but playing with such a rabble, of course he is going to have bad games.
And playing with a rabble makes bad games stand out more due to no one picking up the slack.
Sign him up ASAP. An aggressive, athletic taking it to the opposition will help Amone and Sloan as well.

More "good news". So the club was briefly linked to Munster, meaning it has a lot of money to throw at some new recruits. But no links to anyone else and apart from those who have already made their debut, no juniors standing out for at least another year. So I'm confused.

Tigers’ headache in Crichton chase

MADGE’S HEADACHE AS TIGERS CONSIDER CRICHTON BID

The Wests Tigers may have opted against making a big-money play for back-rower Briton Nikora but now they are setting their sights even higher. According to a News Corp report, the Tigers are considering making a play for Sydney Roosters star Angus Crichton. The report claims that Michael Maguire’s close relationship with Crichton from their time at South Sydney could work in the Tigers favour. No offer has been made though, with the Tigers only said to have held internal talks about making a potential move for Crichton.

Cricthon is off-contract at the end of this year and is said to have agreed to a two-year extension to the Roosters, although it was more a handshake deal. As it stands, no contract has been signed or registered from the NRL and a salary cap squeeze could leave the Roosters struggling to retain him.

If the Tigers were to try sign Crichton, it would leave them facing a similar dilemma to the one that saw them opt out of pursuing Nikora. “The Tigers have got an interest in him but it’s a bit like the situation with Briton Nikora,” The Australian’s Brent Read explained on Fox League’s ‘NRL 360’. “The Tigers had an interest then but it depends how much he wants. If he wants too much money, the Tigers won’t be in the mix because they’re not interested in paying overs for guys and they won’t pay overs for Angus Crichton.”

There is certainly a need for the Tigers to add to their back-row stocks, with Kelma Tuilagi off to Manly, Luke Garner joining Penrith and Luciano Leilua signing with North Queensland.

Might be keeping the powder dry for Payne Haas. I hope they aren't going top throw huge money at him. From around 800k+ should strictly be given to a halfback, 5/8, hooker or fullback. Every other position should be capped at around 800k with the salary cap how it is at present.

That's a good idea but it's not so simple. Clubs are required to spend 95% of their salary cap every year.

I see. Possibly a solution to having more (salary cap) money than the club knows what to do with is outbidding rival clubs for the best juniors from all over the country.

That's a really good idea but I think it has to be spent on the top 30 squad and then there is some kind of secondary cap for players outside the top 30.

I wonder if the club is interested in Jack Hethherington.
