I rate Finau but he isn't very fast. I don't think Williams is on the NRL radar for next year. Maybe in 2026.Sione Finau and Jesse Williams aint slow. We dont need JAC to clog their emergence.
No complaints from me if it is with Ilias as having played with him Cook'd know his ability first hand. Besides our past two coaches made jobs for the boys a habit.I wouldn’t think so
He has good toe for a biggish man.I rate Finau but he isn't very fas
He does. So do Rava and CT. But not much compared to almost all wingers in the competition. He has good toe for a biggish man.
It will be the same then, as we have had a problem for the last 6 years. We will be so much better next year without huntHunt is not our problem but it's looking like next year halfback is going to be a very big problem.
Kirk is more likely to end up on the wing before Williams. Though Williams is probably the better athlete. He could breakout in Flegg next year, quickly get promoted to Cup and who knows from there.Sione is pretty quick.. good leaper, good PCM.. if he can stay fit (which has been his issue) he is easily our #1 winger imo.. the rest can do a job (but they are all slow)... as much I want Williams to be a success, he didnt do great in Flegg.. so I think he needs a mental reset after a season of hype, lets see how he returns in 2025 (I think he is also missing some of pretraining with injury).
I'm really not worried about halves though, I reckon we have a choice of 2 or 3 keen to sign.. just hope we land our 1st choice (they all need releases).
So probably no Lodge, May or JAC.it was more about the type of people we want at the club. It was more about the direction with the people and the culture and where he wants it to go.”
A lot of 'we' in the articles I have read, which highlights why we need someone like Gutho - culture and team.So probably no Lodge, May or JAC.
Its just the best news that he was finally willing to move the family away from the northern beaches where he has lived all his life.. it means hes all in.. still has the beach... but training will be down the road.. he can do his extras...Some more positive news in the media again which is nice, a good interview from Gutho yesterday, also confirming hes moving the family to the Gong which I think is a great move for him and the team. I've copied some interesting bits below and archived the link to the full article here for anyone interested:
...However, the departure of Ben Hunt has left a halves and captaincy void that Gutherson would be prepared to fill, if it’s what is best for the team.
“I think I’m the utility off the bench,” he quipped.
“To be honest, I’m not sure yet, we’ll have to wait and see. We didn’t talk about where we are going to be, it was more about the type of people we want at the club. It was more about the direction with the people and the culture and where he wants it to go.”
Asked whether he had considered playing in the halves alongside Kyle Flanagan, the 30-year-old said: “Honestly, I haven’t, but it does appeal. I played there earlier in my career; it’s another position exactly like fullback these days. The game is that quick, you’re just playing and a lot of teams have multiple fullbacks and halves in their team who just go out and play."
In an indication of how keen he is to buy into what Flanagan is building at the Dragons, Gutherson will relocate to Wollongong.
“I’m going to move the family down, enjoy a change of scenery,” he said. “I’m in Manly now and I’ll still be on the water down there, which is nice.
“The family are excited to head down and have a change and see what is outside the Manly bubble.
“This will give me a chance to really buy into what they’re doing and be close to training and all the boys. I really want to build on what they started last year and see what they can do.”
It wont be , he wasn't a half back anyway ......Hunt is not our problem but it's looking like next year halfback is going to be a very big problem.
Yup agree, love everything about it, the way he speaks about being all in for the club and moving close to be with the guys. Exactly what you want from the leaders of the club, setting the standard for the young fellas off the field as well. Its just the best news that he was finally willing to move the family away from the northern beaches where he has lived all his life.. it means hes all in.. still has the beach... but training will be down the road.. he can do his extras...
He could have signed and trained via a commute situation, but the drive would have killed him.. and he would have resented it.. just love this move..
Agree but don't even have a pretend halfback now.It wont be , he wasn't a half back anyway ......
Your worrying too much flannos got thisAgree but don't even have a pretend halfback now.
Kyle Flanagan to the rescue (god help us).Your worrying too much flannos got this
No one has been harder than me on him but I don't have a problem with him starting next year at halfback. Without Hunt and being told the team is going to listen to you, he might be much better. Just as long as he is held to account like everyone else, which he definitely wasn't last year.Kyle Flanagan to the rescue (god help us).
Optimism is good but Flanno should be held to account like everyone else. Grffin was given a continuous baking over his recruitment of all his old Broncos friends. Flanno should be given a baking about some of his backfired recruits, and he has had a lot, 3 from 4 had bad seasons and the 4th was only ok.Your worrying too much flannos got this
Yes I agree however I don't think he had much time to put things together for 2024 and was trying to make something out of a basket case. Now he has time to make better decisions and I think he is putting something together that we can hopefully have some pride in. Let's not expect over night success but something that can be put together over a few years to a near future premishipOptimism is good but Flanno should be held to account like everyone else.
