Recruitment and Retention for 2025

In hindsight, should've reshuffled. Does anyone think it was the right decision to start the Couchman's in NSW Cup last year? I thought based on what they did the year before in their handful of games, should've been the first forwards picked after Su'A, JDB and Liddle. Will never know if it was right or not but in my opinion, was a big mistake.
Maybe. Probably. Purely hypothetical now.
Anyone other than Flanno that is. Suprised if Deano didn't make a noise about Couchmans in NSW Cup. Considering the environment he was given his debut in. Browny used to just throw the young blokes in and Chase Stanley is really the only one who didn't turn out very good and that was as much because of the notorious Stanley knees more than anything else.
How old was Gaz? I think he was only 18 and was so nervous he couldn't tie his bootlaces. Was on the wing and from memory, played quite well. I think he stayed in first grade. Shortly after that I kept hearing about a dude called Cooper.

Was a real shame the club wasn't able to or didn't want to sign Browny as a recruitment guru.

Then as soon as Ryles has made a name for himself, along comes Luke Bailey.

Yes.

I know what your saying I'm just answering your original question why I think he picked him over Egan. What you view as 'better' and what he views as 'better' can be completely different things depending on what the team needs. He obviously thought that what Tom offers in defence and experience outweighed what the other guys offered to the team at that time.

That doesn't mean this year will be the same though. Maybe the team jells really well and the young guys come in earlier in the season. Maybe Loko kills it and forces his hand. Maybe the opposite happens, we have to wait and see.
I love this exchange. W Wild383 tells me I think Eisenhuth is a rubbish plodder because I think he was behind 3 young players last year and as many as 6 or 7 this year. I assure him or her it isn't true. It's just that I rate highly the young forwards, now 6 in the top 30 and a few more on supplementary deals. He or she then assures I in fact do think Eisenhuth is a rubbish plodder.

For the record, I don't think Eisenhuth is a rubbish plodder. Never stated it or suggested it. As I stated, I think he's a decent forward. It's just that I rate highly the young forwards at the club. More highly than Eisenhuth.

W Wild383 obviously doesn't rate the young forwards in the top 30 and that's fine. His or her opinion and I'm not going to badger him/her about it.

I think I'm Egan's biggest supporter on this forum. But one more thing, he's an edge backrower and Tom E is a middle forward. I'm unhappy with Flanno for not giving Egan a chance at some stage, maybe even in the last round with a reshuffle but a straight swap for Tom E was never going to be on the agenda. jodragon40 jodragon40 would know better than me but I think it's not easy to swap a middle forward for an edge forward. Just my views.
Disagree. Under Griffin, McGuire and a few others often shifted between second row and lock and under Flanno RFM and Eisenhuth himself have done it.

I don't have a dog In the fight. I also rate the young forwards GCRV GCRV is talking about but also back the coach if he thinks they aren't ready yet. It's his neck on the line.

But I just wish people generally would post on threads which match the topic. Wouldn't this conversation be much better here:

Take a breath mate and read the conversation instead of making things up to whinge about that I've already responded to. If I have misunderstood your constant complaining about Tom not being first grade standard, to the point that you went on a little tirade wanting to sack the coach if he got re-signed, then I apologise but I think you've made it clear. Your also ignoring 99% of the conversation (for the question you asked btw) and it continued on without you while your still back at the first line carrying on like a porkchop. If you'd rather I also not respond your questions I am more then happy to mute you, like most have. Enjoy your little echo chamber whinging to yourself buddy.

Your are absolutely right the question was a better fit for either of those.

It’ll be the same scenario as Atkinson, we’d ideally have both for this season but Cronulla rightly have said no chance because their in a premiership window and need as much good depth as possible

maybe we could give em molo or something.. but seems too close to season I agree.
It must be for next year. Flanno seems to think we really need one but I can't understand it personally. Unless JDBs form drops off dramatically. Which I know sometimes happens at his age. Or Unless Tonga isn't as good as we all think he is.
