Like if we have 2 very good fullbacks and Shonkies need one, don't release our second best unless it's to sign somewhere other than the Shonkies. This is what the Broncos did vis-a-vis the Dolphins. Only agreed to release a couple of players on provision they didn't sign with the Dolphins.

I dont think Lodges deal was locked in (probably waiting till after his boxing match next week), but Souths will have close to 500k freed up and a slot.. so we will be hard pressed to get him to the south coast (if indeed we were even trying).
Or hope Frank Molo can justify what he is being paid. If he could do that, our prop problem would be a non-issue with JDB, Sele and several young players like the Couchmans and LPT.
Seems obvious Flanno has decided to first and foremost to get a halfback. After that, see what he can do with other positions. This is the right move. Should have done it the moment he knew Hunt wasn't going to be around. Water under the bridge now but I think it would have left the club in a much better position to recruit.

Agree. It was a mistake. Should've chased a halfback first and then tried to recruit a prop, fullback and winger. Though I'm optimistic about that Rugby winger. Think he has a skillset which will see him go far.

He has had three seasons to do that. My hopes lie in that big body we need leading our engine room to be Vili Fifita if Dan Lawson can work his magic. We have seen some small samples of what this guy is capable of, need big samples from him this season.
I think Vili has more work to do on the mentality sides of things rather than physically. Needs to find some grittiness and he’ll be laughing.
