Recruitment and Retention for 2026

Confirmation soon to be announced with Nov 1 looming that DCE will sign with the Roosters for 2026 and 2027. He will partner Sam Walker in the halves. This could result in Hugo Savala looking at going elsewhere and would mean that the Roosters will be without Sandon Smith - Newcastle done deal as well.

Has Anderson set his sights on signing Savala (would know him from his time as recruitment guru for the Roosters)?

Don't think Savala is better than LKT or Atkinson. Maybe about the same at his best. As a 5/8 that is.

Savala bleeds red white and blue, he would only look to leave if he rly thinks the Roosters r shafting him.. But Rodwell is prob years away...hes reeds age.. And dce is likely 12mths..

But a great fit for us.. Monster boot would change everything.. Still got potential to come he's still young.. Would keep us humming till reed gets here.. Ando would know him.. But still be surprised if we got him.

Some still saying Campbell is likely to come also.. He and Atkinson would be a decent halve combo for me 2026.. But im sure eventually he would be a fullback for us (if we get him).

We need to stop with the dollar valuing of players based on misinformation from the press about other players contracts of which not one club has ever realeased a figure.

A players worth is based on our cap spread and what he brings to the team not based on what other players earn.

The end result of how we use our entire cap is what matters not one players contract.

Disagree, definitely way better than LKT, re Atkinson, bit harder to judge as Atkinson didnt really play this year in the halves bar a couple of games at best..
Give him a break FFS. He turned 20 during the season, was playing behind what was already considered one of the worst packs before half them succumbed to injury and was partnered with one KYLE FLANAGAN for every game.

In other words, he's barely even had a chance yet.

Lol we aren't allowed to compare players against our own, Savala is a better player currently, if you don't agree so be it, i've never said anything about LKT so not sure why i need to give him a break..

Okay. I think LKT has shown enough that with an even playing field, he would be and will be much better. But needs to tackle better. And needs a halfback who can kick long so he isn't expected to do it.

Flegg hasn't underperformed when more than half the team were playing higher grades.
The issue we have had is a basically non existent Cup squad.

Ando is working on increasing the Cup squad size so when injuries hit we are not raiding the Flegg team.
Good point. You are right. I forgot how many had to be called up into reserve and first grade.

On second thoughts, Jersey Flegg overachieved last season. But would still like to see them make a deep run into the finals next year.

Defence and kicking is half the game for a half or 5/8 but his short kicking is actually quite good. His long kicking needs work even if he isn't a regular long kicker. Defence obviously needs to improve but that is something easily fixable. He knows how to tackle so it's all about attitude and determination.

With this in mind, I'm probably wrong but I feel Koloamatangi would be better for the Dragons than Fa'asuamaleaui. The latter is more likely to provide offloads and a lot of work but Dragons already have 2 Couchman's and Stewart for that. The former is more likely run hard and bust the line open or charge over for a try himself from close range.

Kicking & tackling are a given for a 7 or 6 & so far he’s shown he’s still a work in progress re both. Kid has talent but needs to really improve these parts of his game.

Fair enough. He has to improve those parts of his game. Not sure if his long kicking can improve much. From personal experience, it seems to be something one either has or doesn't. But it's suitable for a back up kicker. I'm sure Flanno wouldn't have left a stone unturned trying to improve KFs long and short kicking.

I've heard the Rorters player is a good long kicker but how is his defence? How would be it when he's constantly back peddling and when the Rorters line is a shambles with some moving up fast, others slow and others not at all?

Anyway, I'm glad we have LKT and not Savala and it seems the Rorters don't rate Savala either.
