What is the contract status of Jasias Ah Kee? I haven't seen much but the little I have seen is SUPER impressive. At least in attack he is a 5/8 prodigy. Excellent ball skills/playmaking, excellent running game.

Didn't see the game but saw the player ratings. Tino Fa'asuamaleaui was average. He's a good player but is very overrated. He's worth 900k a season at most! If I were DA I would offer him 850k for a 3 years or long-term but without any get-out clauses.

In that case, wouldn't make an offer. I think Titans told him he's overpaid by about 300k a year and please leave if he's offered the same or more by another club.

We can't just do nothing.. we have to take some gambles on some talent.. we wont do it on juniors alone.. we wont even keep them all if we end up Bottom 4 for too much longer.. maybe some grace for 2026.
We wont get Tino anyway though, could throw 1.5m.. still dont think we will turn his head.. he will want a club like the Storm.

Agree. If it were Haas or Walsh or Ponga or Cleary or Grant, worth 1.5mil a season.

Agree, i don't think he comes here even if we offer the most amount but it comes a point where we need to get a marquee player and start getting some results and hopefully allows us to be able to get the players we want down the track..

I would bet he's heading back to the Storm. With the Pezet, NAS, Anderson and probably Wishart on the way out, they will have cap space.

the whole recruitment market seems so much more brutal than in the past though (sellers market).. there should always be the next big thing somewhere.. but the next big things are all locked up too.. means we gotta go for the next best next best thing.. but we don't want more kids.. we want experience.. its a doozie of a situation, esp for us who have been struggling to pull talent.
That said, I have to give Parra credit (whether its Ryles or recruitment guys), but guys like Iongi and Smith seem to have come out of nowhere to be future star spine talents.. so hard to nail these decisions.. a long contract on the wrong emerging player is an expensive mistake.

Whilst I totally agree with you, where is this marquee player going to come from ? If I could point something out here, when we got Hunt as our so called marquee player, who did he attract to the club ? Who did he mentor ? I hate players coming to the club simply because of money, they give us nothing and suck the life out of the club especially if things start to go wrong mid contract. Unless DA has really worked some magic our next marquee will be coming from our juniors.
we’ve been doing well retaining our key juniors and developing them but we do need to take a risk in recruitment. we need a marquee that will attract more talent to the club - look at tigers. luai went there sure on overs but they landed may, turuva and others because of it. we don’t make any calculated risks and have no elite player associated with the club to bring others in.

Take a risk sure but to pay Tino 1 mil or more a season isn't a risk but madness.
Been a lot of talk about Ponga and Newcastle. He's worth over 1 mil a season.
they recruited heavily in the early days while Cleary developed mate. think Jimmy Maloney was there at one stage. filled gaps until the likes of jarome, critta etc were ready and brought through.

Malony at the end of his career. Even in his prime he probably wasn't considered marquee. But I get your point. Trent Merrin was also there.
From what I've seen of him he isn't worth a million a season but I haven't seen much.

Maybe they're worth it, maybe not. Getting marquee talent doesn't equal success, need a lot of things to be strong within the club.

I’d have Tino in a heartbeat.
He monstered those poms in the first 30 minutes. We have some very good juniors in our forwards who just need a leader like him.
