TYRELL SLOAN

And here lies the reason he is playing reserve grade the match report from Dragons V Magpies on the weekend. The attacking statistics are really outstanding BUT.

Tyrell Sloan ran amok against the Magpies on Sunday with the 19-year-old fullback scoring a double, setting up another try, getting three linebreaks and six tacklebusts while also notching up 224 running metres. He did however miss three tackles.

Until he learns to defend we are stuck with Mbye. See coaches do know best.

I'd prefer Ramsey.

Interesting. Depending on how many tackles he made, missing 3 may not be many.

I don't Sloan is built for fullback and moves over the ground with speed and grace that reminds me of David Peachy. I would be selecting Sloan over Ramsay at fullback every day of the week. These are specialised positions just cast your mind back to one of our clubs legends of recent times Jason Nightingale, yes he managed to play both positions but there was a fair gap on how he impacted the game in my view.

I don't mean I'd prefer Ramsey ahead of Sloan but I'd prefer Ramsey ahead of Mbye if the coach isn't yet satisfied with Sloan.

How many tackles did Mbye miss last round? I think it's surely time to recall Sloan or leave Amone at 5/8. Need a little more speed and attacking flair to trouble the top sides.

Made 15 missed 2 not bad. Week before against Roosters 12 and 2 and 3 weeks ago against Knights 5 and 1 .So averages a missed tackle every 6.5 tackles. Let's compare that to another more highly rated fullback Gutherson in the same 3 rounds he has made 7 tackles only but missed 5. So as you can see just on these stats Mbye is making nearly 5 times more tackles for less missed tackles. As a coach that indicates to me that our front-line defence is pretty woeful. So credit where credit is due. Just my views.

Ok sorry for the misunderstanding. In looking into my crystal ball this is what I believe will happen come SOO time Hunt will be replaced by Sullivan and partner Amone. I can see Sloan coming back into the fold then. So if that is the case perhaps then he will move Mbye. If the coach rewards Mbye Sullivan will be off the bench Mbye partners Amone and Sloan at fullback. Let's see how close I get.

Woods, Lawrie, Bird were all missing too many tackles early on in the season. I haven't checked the stats from last round but I think the usual suspects were missing tackles. Not only missing tackles but not moving up fast enough or not at all when defending.

That's ok. I forgive you just this once. Jack Gosiewski asked me to let you off the hook:alien:. I doubt Bird will be selected for SOO. Why do you think Amone will come back in during that period?

Our front-line defence needs to replicate our red zone defence if we are to play semi-final football this season

There may have to be a reshuffle of the pack with Sua our for a while and the best time to try new combinations is during SOO period in my view.

If the team is already going very well, Origin is a perfect time to try new, or emerging combinations. I think the coach is going to go with the team he sees as best possible. Apart from Hunt, difficult to see what other SOO reps Saints have.
Molo a possibility and Su'A if he's available.

Agree maybe Suli?

Not before Lomax and 6 or 7 others.
Lomax? Not even on the radar anymore. Suli was a stab in the dark and done in jest there are far too many centres ahead of ours but don't be surprised if they go with a fullback as a centre this origin

I agree his form has been down and he wouldn't deserve the spot but he has runs on the board from previous seasons and it's true that when he's on, he can do it all. Good defender, good ball skills, goal kicks, drop kicks, ability to beat defenders one on one.
