While our scouts have been diligent in their pursuit of promising players, specially past two years, there have been few halves among them. Only one that comes to mind is King-Togia, tho Peckam-Harris could develop into one.

Is Peckam-Harris the little fullback from the SG Ball St George side? He needs to get a lot bigger even though he might be very talented.

That little? Does not offer the promising play maker much incentive to pursue a league career then.
I wonder all the time what drives footballers, the chance of nrl success is so small.. Even those that make it all the way to 1st grade ... I forget the exact number.. Its like 20 games or something on average.

We were quite flush in local halfs for a while for a nil result.

The love of the game and being good at it
Yeah thats fair, why do we do anything in life really... may aswell be something you love and are gifted at... not to mention the pay-off if you do make it.

I also wonder how hard it must be for coaches/managers all the way through the grades, managing these kids and all their expectations and let-downs when they miss out (which to be brutal.. most will).. I guess the reason why its so important to also have a plan b, making sure they study or maybe do a trade or something in the background.

Malokai Tomo
A centre who played Laurie Daley Cup this season and will play SG Ball next season.
I've been told he has really stepped it up this year playing in the Group 7 under 18 comp. 19 tries in 12 games.

We've had a few potential 6's.. I rly liked Herrings running game.. he was soward/burton like nippy at first.. with a big boot... but then he kind of kept growing... getting bigger and hence slower.. still didnt mind him, but I just back whatever the coaches think.. they are the ones working with the kids every week..

It's also a huge call to back a young player due to the opportunity cost.. there is only 1 jersey per grade.. so if you pick Rumble as an easy example, well that means you arent picking TPH or Borg or whoever.. same across all positions in the team.

TPH is that little fullback from SG Ball St George team? Think he needs to get a lot bigger to have a chance.

yes hes little but his tenacity in defence and ability to break the line and set up others is incredible.. but Justa mentioned he got ragdolled a bit in the last JF game he played.

I think there is a Trai Fuller in him though.. but needs a little bit more muscle.. not sure if that will come or not...

Yes. He is a tuff little dude now, at what 18/19 while in a few years he'll have developed more muscle and bulk. To be honest not worried about his size as watched the similar proportioned Geoff Toovey take on the Poms, '95 WC think it was and he played a crucial part in the win. Allan Langer played round that time and he was similar size. Both also played in the brutal SOO for many years.
