So after last week's draw against the highly rated Bears we score a try in the last few minutes today to keep our spot in the 8 against the Knights winning 24 - 22 with Treigh Stewart scoring 3 tries including the winning try and Max Feagai scoring the other 2 tries. I note that Sloan was again on the wing.

Anyone know if Treigh Stewart is eligible to play first grade? Hook will go with the "safe" option regardless:
  • Mybe fullback
  • Maximus Feagai centre
  • Moga retains his spot on the wing.

Been with us a while now was considered a very exciting young fullback not sure about his contract but I can say that because of bonus clauses in the young player contracts we won't see too many changes to our top 20 because of salary cap issues.

He was in the same junior teams as Amone and Sloan, wasn't he?

Yep.

Our Jersey Flegg side were beaten again. Is it the case that since Zack Herring was promoted to the Ressies, Flegg has not won.

They won last week against the competition leaders but certainly their form has fallen off a cliff compared to the middle part of the season. I hope it's due to players being promoted because the first grade team is going to need them next year.

Missed that. Second time they have knocked off the Rorters this season from memory.
I could be wrong but I believe our Flegg side is the only one to have beaten the Rorters Flegg side this year and they have done it twice.

As long as they get a spot in the top 4, everything is fine. They won't overtake the Rorters for the minor premiership but will get several players back from the NSW Cup come the finals. Of course I presume the Rorters will as well.

Wasn't he a Dragons junior?

The Rabbitohs lead the tryscoring tally in both the NRL and NSW Cup. We all know about Alex Johnston’s capabilities, but the club has another winger that can find the line — Izaac Thompson. The 25-year-old cored a hat-trick in South Sydney’s 30-nil win over Mounties to take his total tally to 18 (two tries ahead of Penrith’s Thomas Jenkins and North Sydney’s Tom Carr). Thompson also got three linebreaks, seven tackle busts and 218 running metres on Saturday.

St George Illawarra fullback Treigh StewartElsewhere, Aaron Woods played his second NSW Cup game for the Dragons in their 24-22 win over the Knights. The veteran prop played 53 minutes, finishing with 114 running metres, a linebreak assist and 28 tackles with one miss.

Dragons fans should keep a close eye on Treigh Stewart. The 21-year-old played fullback in the 2019 SG Ball premiership-winning Illawarra side that consisted the likes of Tyrell Sloan, Jayden Sullivan and the Feagai twins. Stewart carved up in the No.1 jersey, scoring a hat-trick, setting up another try, getting five tackle busts and running for 189 metres.

Five-eighth Zach Herring, who is still eligible for Jersey Flegg, had his best game since forcing his way into the Dragons’ Cup 17. Herring set up three tries, got a linebreak, five tackle busts and 112 running metres, while also making 22 tackles with two misses.

Stewart at fullback and Herring at 5/8 are the future.

  • Not much happening here. Hunt, Fuimaono and Ford will come back from the NRL extended reserves and into the forwards for this team. I wonder who will drop out.
  • Players we need to keep a close on eye for next year are: #12, #15 (both of whom will probably drop back to Flegg), #6, #5 and #1, all of whom are still eligible for Jersey Flegg.
  • It looks like this coach simply doesn't rate Connor Muhleisen.
  • On the subject, Sam Hooper been promoted to the bench. He is of course also eligible for Flegg, he's been (C) most of the year but he'll almost certainly go back to Flegg.
  • I don't know anything about #15 Navjo Doyle but that's a cool name.
  • Declan Purcell gone back to Flegg. They are changing hooker a lot in the lower grades. Purcell and Sam Hooper changing almost weekly.
  • Jackson Shereb must be injured.

  • As mentioned on another thread, interesting that Burgess is back. I thought he was done for the year.
  • Couchman seems to have cemented his spot eve though he's still available for Flegg.
  • O'Ofuo is a curious case. He's on a development contract but has been in and out of the NSW Cup team. Until this week, out. Maybe he was injured.
  • Campbell Watchirs is a new name. Will probably go back to where he came from when extended reserves come back from the NRL.
  • Alexander Lobb is back in Jersey Flegg. Been in NSW Cup for most of the season. I presume it's to ensure he is available for the finals in Flegg.
  • Sam Hooper also back in Flegg. He was certainly available for the finals in Flegg so it would seem he's been dropped from NSW Cup.
  • Shereb back in his best position.

Are you as confused as I Eric Eric. They print these two lineups in the newspapers and online yet neither are fully complete or correct. As there are still the players in the full Firsts squad that fail to make the 17 to consider. Am speaking of Sullivan, Sloan and Hunt for three. They should all be in the final Ressie lineup. Yes? So that means three named in the Ressie 17 will be left out or move down to Flegg with three from their lineup dropping out. See my point.

They should name the team as it will be when the extended reserves come back from first grade. Such an obvious thing, no wonder they don't do it.

That's how it usually works

Jersey Flegg should win ensuring that they also get to play semi final football, don't forget in Flegg its top 5 not 8, reserves also assured of a semi final spot so fingers crossed we will have 2 teams in. I note Soward has also been in the 1sts coaches box last couple of games. Don't be surprised to see him get an assistant coaches job next year perhaps with Barrett especially if the ladies go well again.

I think the Jersey Flegg side are in for a run at the title.
