I beg to differ. He knows his strengths and weaknesses so do the coaching staff. You won't see him darting 10m in field to shut down an attack ala Rav and miss
Not to single out anyone in particular but I think everyone can agree the general lack of speed in the backline has been a problem for a number of years. It's set to be a problem this year too. If Rava could get it right much more often about when to come in and when to stay out, he would be a very decent winger as well. But with Gutho at fullback, Rava and CT on the wing. One centre being Suli. 5/8 being Flanagan........ You see the problem the Dragons have with speed?

2 of Lawson, Finau, Sloan on the wings and Holmes at centre would fix the lack of speed in the backline. That isn't a criticism of Rava or CT just an acknowledgement the backline needs to be faster.

Bar TV has added our KOE Cup Trial v Roosters for coverage now being played at Henson Park @ 12 noon tomorrow 15/2. No mention of Flegg match yet but they might upload this to the program guide later as there are now a few other Flegg matches listed already.

There is no substitute for speed believe me and I agree we are slow but then a premiership winning coach will have attacking structures to suit our style of play and our perceived lack of speed in the backs

I was just watching the trail between the Dolphins and Cowboys and looking at this forum at the same time. Just as I saw this message, I heard Steve Roach say exactly "there is no substitute for speed".

Sometimes I do know what I am talking about not just dribbling on. Thank you Mr Roach

Agreed on the speed conversation. Guys like Khan Pereira/Tyrone Munro convert half chances that most wingers can’t, that’s why I think Sloan on that right wing is a must.

Gutherson’s ball playing is underrated and with the strike in the backs he can get a dozen try assists from that Suli/Sloan right edge

Gutho's ball playing and other parts of his game make him an obvious fullback and captain. But his ball playing would be more effective with fast outside backs.

Prefer a day game today, instead of evening. Still it is at our spiritual home so hopefully a good crowd will lift us. My brother is a life long Chooks supporter almost as long as I have been a Dragons tragic and we had a chat yesterday about our chances this season. First thing he said was you need some ability in your pack. I replied I know, virtually same pack as last year and most were mediocre.

God forbid. Rava has done his dash and CT is too slow. Hello brains trust, we need speed/skill on the wings. Sloan, Finau and Lawson shud be the only considerations with CT only as a last resort. I am with others, stick him on the bench to add some middle impact.
I think CT would be an outstanding prop and I think that is where he will be at the end of his career. He's a lot bigger than Lawrie or Sele.

I just hate waiting all day for the game.

Genuinely curious what gives you that thought? As was mentioned the other day in another thread it’s not as simple as throwing someone in the middle because they’re big. There is a lot of other factors to take into consideration which is why you never see it. Would be a hard enough switch at local grade level let alone in first grade.

It would take a lot of retraining. Basically I rate him but I think he's not fast enough to be a good, long-term winger. Due to the way he charges into the line and makes a lot of post contract metres, I think he would make a good prop. At least give it a try.

Is too much having Rava back in Firsts surely as he has burnt his bridges, yet I see Matt Feagai starting on one wing. Hello brains trust he is just as guilty of dumb wing play as Rava. MF did fine at the fullback last year which bizarrely earned him a Firsts recall to the wing. Just please keep him away from our top side and have both finish their careers in Ressies...

The best thing about one of the Feagai's leaving is don't have to hurt brain trying to figure out which is which. One of them was much better last year. Still not good enough. Needs to improve by that much again. I'm excited to see what Lawson can bring.
