PHOENIX JOHNS
Centre
A monster frame in the backs for the Dragons, you can’t miss Johns on the pitch.
Big, fast and athletic, he comes from a rugby union background, but is no doubt a transferable talent on the league field
JETT BROOKFIELD
Halfback
He might have one of the smallest frames on the field but has perhaps the greatest ability.
In what are great attributes for a halfback, Brookfield has great controlling and game management skills, with coach Morrison glowing of his pre-season form. “Everything started to click when he was on the park, he straightens us right up.”
LETHAM MANAGO
Front-rower
A powerful middle forward with a motor capable of playing big minutes, Manago is one of the Dragons’ most promising bottom age players in the squad. While excellent in making metres, his defence in and around the ruck is also top notch
DREAU CLARK
Second-row/utility
A five-eighth at club level, Clark is likely to play in the back row for the Dragons, with his terrific ball playing to come in handy on the edge.
A big body with good ball skills and a sound kicking game, he is coming off an excellent season for the Warilla-Lake South Gorillas that saw him pick up Group 7’s under-18s player-of-the-year award

Lykian King-Togia impressed enough to earn his NRL debut. King-Togia was impressive in his stints in reserve grade where he had 6 try-assists in 10 matches and was a constant part of the Dragons side that charged towards a finals spot.Dylan Egan shone in his first open-age football season. Despite talk he was pushing for an NRL spot, Shane Flanagan is going to make Egan and all Dragons rookies earn their spot and Egan did all he could, averaging just under 100 metres but tackling at an impressive 96% on the edge, crossing 7 times and 11 linebreaks.
Averaging just under 100m, tackling at 96% effectiveness, 11 linebreaks....... Compare that to Eisenhuth, BMM and RFM. WTF is going on! Flanno needs to explain himself!

Kade Reed (Illawarra Steelers): Backs up for his second year in the division after injury last year. A director of the play who uses his presence effectively.
Zach Taufa (Illawarra Steelers): A big front rower who leads by example in the front line. A physically large forward but very skilful as well, also demonstrates great leadership.
Tom Kirk (Illawarra Steelers): Stands at a whopping 195cm tall. The Gerringong product outside back cuts an imposing figure with his strength and athleticism
Hayden Buchanan (Illawarra Steelers): Liked with the club long term, such is the view they have of this young centre. His dynamic charges and physicality is something to keep an eye on.
Finau Latu (St George Dragons): A mobile middle forward who can play with the ball. A Junior Blue will star this season and joins the NRL training squad next year.
Jacob Halangahu (St George Dragons): Another from Brad Fittler’s Junior Blues camp, Jacob is a tearaway second-rower who has a trademark strong carry to terrorise defences.
Cyrus Stanley-Traill (St George Dragons): The Endeavour High student is a prop that can get through a mountain of work. Gets the dirty work done and can find the tryline as well.
Dylan Egan (Illawarra Steelers): The no-nonsense Gerringong back-rower got the chance to sped time with the NRL boys in the pre-season, and Illawarra will thrive off his physicality.
Lyhkan King-Togia (Illawarra Steelers): A Dalby Devils junior making the journey down south. A livewire half who will join the NRL training squad with the Dragons next year.
Jett Lui (Illawarra Steelers): The monster prop has excelled during his debut NRL pre-season. With a dominating physical presence, the Leeton junior is tipped to climb the Dragons ranks.
Kyan Hjaltason (Illawarra Steelers): The crafty and scheming hooker has been a surprise packet this off-season with his ability to get the forward marching up-field in the trials.
Loko Tonga (St George Dragons): Tonga is a towering prop who helped Ipswich State High School claim the National Championship. A born leader who has a destructive carry.
Nick Tsougranis (St George Dragons): Comes from the Arncliffe Scots and is an aggressive backrower who has already had a taste of Jersey Flegg action. Looks set to progress further.
Corey Ackers (St George Dragons): An energetic foot-to-the-floor explosive ball carrier. Capable in the back-row or lock, the Arncliffe product will join the Dragons NRL training squad in the coming seasons.

I thought the Junior Kumuls might have been the better team. Aus made a lot of mistakes. Limited chances for Jake in attack but he was very strong in defence.

That 5/8 Mitchell Woods! Big wraps on him but I've seen him play 3 times. SG Ball GF, U19s Origin and this game...... I'll just say I'm glad we have Reed who was controversially overlooked for Aus Schoolboys in favour or Mitchell.

Agree, is over rated. Hardly seen in the French game and only came alive in the final five mins of the PNG one with a neat chip kick and then a deft cut out to sneak the draw..

I missed the chip but it's a low % play anyway. Wasn't much in that pass at the end. I think you'll find it wasn't a cut-out but just catch and pass with a staggered PNG defence on the line just asking for a try to be scored against them.
