Recruitment and Retention for 2023

An extra year for his hip to heal, an extra year to get the fitness needed for the top grade. Dead set if George can get back to full fitness we wont have to look for that engine room enforcer. Can save money by going after Jordan McLean and another top back rower instead. I see Tyson is back on the market. How good was he for us.
Was very good but like Burgess, his time has come and gone.

Just think for a sec. His twin Thomas is still playing good footy and George was always rated the best of the brothers. So his time has not gone in my view.. if he can retain full fitness, put this upcoming court case behind him then knuckle down to showing some pride in the RedV jumper,
Wasn't he at full fitness last season? Another year older and he will only be less fit.

These are the current props off contract. As previously mentioned I personally would look at McLean, Pele, Pere from Cowboys, perhaps Morgan Boyle
Well no Fonau-Blake. I did read he was on the market come Nov 1. Also none of the above. But we may pick up a big bopper from Penrith (see above post). How good would it be if our useless website posted players we are looking at so we dont have to second guess all the time.

Emry Pere:

Has only played two First Grade games since 2020 which spells nothing more than a Ressies player.

Hearing Gould has snapped up Pele for the Kennel. He'd have been the ideal impact forward off the bench against a tired defense. Our R/R team are so slow off the mark.

Big hulking bloke but only one top grade game. Not listed in Sharks Ressies.. then must have played for Jets Flegg last season.. So no stats. Great!

Franklin Pele:
Biog: Aussie born, 21, is a former Australian Schoolboy, has come through the Sharks Academy system to reach top 30 spot on their roster. Physically imposing front rower and damaging runner, tips the scales (rather breaks them) between 125/130k (I call him a monster).
Wouldn't he have to be under 20 to play Flegg?

Isnt Flegg Under 21. If not Flegg then where did he play in '22. Anyway matters not now as the Dogs R/R beat ours to the punch. No surprise as ours are on sedatives. You can bet that with supremos at a club such as Bellamy, Politis, Gould, Bennett, their targeted player will always be snared..
Seriously I mentioned this bloke weeks if not months ago. Every club has its scouts but in saying that the scout needs to know what the clubs needs are. Obviously our recruitment team is totally useless, you can't continue to be beaten to the punch. 2023 is not looking good.

I thought it was U20 as well.

Lets wait and see what's cooking before pre season starts in November. I know it's unlikely but possible the club could get Lodge and Crighton by that time.,

On the market from Nov 1 = available for 2024, not next year.

I know Morgan Boyle from Manly is after a new club wants out of the current sea Eagles messy internal struggle would be on minimum wage for a prop
Has struggled to keep a regular spot in the top grade. I think we may have to settle for Leniu plus we should be looking at Jordan McLean too.

Crichton would be a good addition to our pack. But do we need a back rower. S'ua is staying, we have Hunt and Burns. Prefer tho we took a punt on youth and blooded Toby Couchman next season. Before someone else comes sniffing.
In my opinion we don't need any backrowers

Crighton is one of the best second rowers in the comp. Burns is a fringe first grader. J. Hunt is definitely a prop. Coachman will surely get a chance in first grade early nexr year but I think he's a middle forward, not edge forward.

How disappointing and frustrating is it to us fans that every year, probably since 2010, we have been unable to lure any elite players to our club. How did our famous and beloved club get in such a sorry state. Was not always this way. We had many of the best in the 80/90s. Were able even to lure that English pair of Ellery Handley and Martin Offia. Is there too much money in the game these days that players have become blaze. Brad McKay had to supplement his footy salary with electrician work. Betting he was not the only one. Pity we dont go back to those days when loyalty still meant more that the $$$$$$.

Ellery Hanley never played for St George.
