I'd take the chance on Sully give him time in top grade swapping with Hunt 7 9 and he wont cost a mill a season ..... like you said it's taken Hunt 3 years to find some form , so give Sully 3 years then let's see .... I know which way I'd go and it's not Hunt for 3 more years and lose Sully .....

Those are my thoughts exactly. I'm a Ben Hunt fan but well managed clubs make these big decisions. A player nearing the end of his career must be moved on to make way for a talented but as yet unproven young player. Dragons have the luxury of having them both in the team for 12 months. So if Sully doesn't work out, club has time to make plans for another option.
Agree but Sully needs to be playing in top grade not lower grades otherwise we will never know ..... Not drop him if he makes a mistakes then don't see him again ....
Precisely as he did with Sloan. Imagine how that knocks the confidence of a bloke still in nappies.. but with natural talent. When he was sent back to Ressies you could see how his body language had changed. Did Griffin ever factor in that Sloan may have been nervous making his first run of Firsts footy.
Sloan and Sullivan should have been ready for next year with game time this year , but no , Hook was happy to leave them in lower grades .....
After the they were no chance of making the finals but he still wouldn't give them a chance...... Madness. Illogical. Insane. Self defeating. Not sure how to explain it another way.
Because Hook has made it very clear. His first loyalty is to Ben Hunt, McCullough and at that time, McGuire. He likes Mbye a lot as well. Hunt wants to play halfback at club level, McCullough thinks he is still first grade standard and McGuire didn't want to spend his last few NRL games in reserve grade. The last of those is somewhat ironic as Hook poached him out of QLD Cup.
Completely different from the young half from Souths , was having a shocker against us , the coach replaced him at half time , but would have worked on it at training and was back in first grade the next game and has continued to improve ..... If he had dropped him for the rest of the season like our bloke , how would he have improved , with his confidence shattered ...... And he is playing in a key position ...... I post this in another forum ( this in a nut shell )
Yep, that is exactly what happened and what has happened since. We all know Sullivan struggled in his one game at halfback. Though he wasn't that bad. A few kicks were just a metre or 2 too long. Unfortunate but it happens. He also ran a few times when he should have passed and vice versa. Well, it was his first game ever starting at halfback and really, he wasn't that bad.

Sloan wont learn anything if he is not trained out of his flaws. Did Griffin and assistant give him any personal training after his shocker like the Rabbits coach gave his young half, and was he sacked. No the coaching staff had faith in their kid. Griffin is a sh** coach and that is mild criticism.

Once upon a time, like Nathan Brown, he was very good at identifying and bringing talented players into the NRL even if he never threatened to win a premiership.

Me too. Hunt to hooker next year, mentoring Sully at halfback and preparing for Sam Hooper to come in the following year could be perfect. Then also save money to be able to afford a big forward signing or two.
