Recruitment and Retention for 2023

Hot off the press the Dragons are making enquiries with that very successful club the Tigers to ascertain if Zane Musgrave who is signed until 24 because apparently the front office is worried that our pack isn't big enough. You don't say.

The Mole saying we are looking at another wooden spooner, prop Zane Musgrove. Lenui must have knocked us back. We cant lure players from the major clubs.. only lowies, mostly the wooden spooners, with Liddle and now Musgrove, who has a reputation as a bit of a bad boy and hot head. How low have we fallen.
True fact

Another reject the wooden spooners don't want. These front office idiots are having a laugh at the fans.

Hook and his Guru's don't mess around. They nominated the team was short of hookers so now they have or are reported to be close to signing:
  • McCullough
  • Liddle
  • Sullivan / Ben Hunt
  • Muhleisen
  • Mbye
  • Haele Finou
  • Hooper
  • Purcell
They also nominated prop as a position the club was lacking in. So now they have signed or are reported to be close to signing:
  • Burgess
  • Woods
  • M. Molo
  • F. Molo
  • JDB
  • Lawrie
  • J. Hunt
  • Coric
  • Musgrove

  • Muhleisen : He might get passed over in favour of Hooper and Purcell.
  • Mbye
  • Haele Finou
  • Hooper
  • Purcell

  • Burgess
  • Woods
  • M. Molo : Has to be much better next season.
  • F. Molo : Has to be much better next season.
  • JDB : Should be lock.
  • Lawrie
  • J. Hunt : Has to be much better next season.
  • Coric
  • Musgrove

Now they are saying Dragons don't have enough money for David Fifita. Well obviously because they keep spending big money on veterans, some of whom are no longer first grade standard (Macca, Woods, Burgess, McGuire who I know is now gone). Fringe first graders at best (Liddle, Musgrove, Mbye [Dragons are the only team interested in raiding the wooden spoon team]). And overpaid (Hunt, Frank Molo).

Not quite the case. He was signed for a two year extension end of '21. So the Tigers want him. I think the problem is salary cap. He is still contracted so we will have to do a deal to get him. Frankly I think we can do better. I dont see him as any better than Frank Molo. Stats dont say he is. But with most of the floaters now snapped up.. we have to get a big unit to bolster our engine room. He is also a Samoan international.

RedV Podcast saying we have approached David Fifita with a $800K offer. Yes he can be lazy but reckon a good coach can get the best out of the big fellar. Question is does Fifita want to leave his home state and for less coin than he is used to. There is one major lure if his girlfriend who plays for us does not want to leave her state.

No way it's salary cap. Tigers are on record as having a huge amount of salary cap space to go to the market with.

Probably worth 800k with a good coach who can somewhat cure hIm of his laziness.

May have been the case before they factored in what Munster would cost. Why offer a bloke an extension one year before you supposedly boot him if not for salary cap pressure. Unless he is in trouble with the cops again.
Munster won't be leaving Melbourne next year.

I bet he won't go to the Tigers even though they'll offer him much more than any other team. You think we are all irritated by how things are being managed at St George, imagine how Tigers fans are feeling!

Dragons reported to be "in the box seat" for Hunt's signature. This actually gives me hope. The fact he still hasn't been signed and the fact no figures are being mentioned. If Hunt were going to be offered as much as he wants, he wouldn't waste any time signing and he wouldn't care what Griffin is doing or not doing for the duration of that contract.

I've always rated Hunt but he's going to be 33 at the time his next contract "starts". 34 by the time he starts playing for that contract.

Matt Lodge and Jordan McClean are still off contract for next year. Both the Rorters and Cowboys want to keep them but are both having issues with the NRL regarding the salary cap.

I think to get Lodge and Angus Crighton might immediately turn this team into a premiership contender. After that there is only have the issue with Macca. I think the backline needs a little more speed as well.

At this point, every day he isn't extended is promising. At very least, the club isn't dancing to his tune. Like it seems he expected the club to do with his initial demands.

I'm not even against him being re-signed. Either of the Jersey Flegg halves might be a better long term option than Sullivan. But if that is what they decide, Hunt should be on no more than 750K max for his next contract.
