Recruitment and Retention for 2023

Temporary solution if Hunt isn't extended, Sullivan isn't NRL standard, neither of the Flegg halves from this year are ready by 2024, no other halves can be signed before then. Why not? Zac has an excellent passing game. He could be another Laurie Daley.
Could even try Zac at 5/8 if Amone doesn't play better from the beginning of next year.

It’s interesting St George Illawarra chairman Craig Young has taken a much greater hands on role in the space of recruitment and retention for the Dragons.
Young has become heavily involved around the Red V negotiations with captain Ben Hunt and out-of-favour fullback Tyrell Sloan in the last fortnight.
Both players have held meetings with the retired champion forward who is now seen as the figurehead of the Dragons in a bid to resolve their futures.(Fox Sports)

Albert certainly is playing a larger part specially in the retention of our juniors..Tyrell and Sully. Is he doing a Sco Mo by taking on more porfolios such as the role left open by the sacking of James Graham.

He'd certainly have his hands on the ball more. Another Laurie Daley. Interesting.

The Dragons have also undergone a major revamp to their pathway systems. NSW Cup coach Russ Aitken and Jersey Flegg coach Willie Talau will shift into new roles as part of the Dragons pathway and NRL development coaches. (Fox League)

No release of this on our website. Who knew that Russ Aitken was our Ressies coach. Not I. His record is no better than Griffins so tell us why he is one of the new Pathway coaches.

I'm not so sure. Maybe jodragon40 jodragon40 would agree, it would be perfect if it were changing a centre and winger or lock and prop or fullback and winger but not a halfback. Can't change halfbacks mid game and then change back again before fulltime. I still prefer the idea of Hunt from hooker mentoring Sully at halfback for a full season. But if Sully really isn't up to it, like Beau Henry and Drew Hutchinson who both excelled in the lower grades weren't, can drop him and move Hunt back to halfback, Liddle to hooker.

It would create a halfback issue for the following year but if that happens, so be it. It happens. It would still be debatable whether the club made a mistake by not re-signing Hunt due to his age. It's not as if we've had huge success with Hunt at halfback.

Amone to halfback and Lomax to 5/8 could be a decent temporary combo to use for a season if Sully doesn't make it.
Eric , the swapping with Hunt won't make any difference to the the team as we are not going to win anything next year or the year after ..... if Hunt does sign on I'd rather that happen with Sully and Hunt , than Sully floundering around in lower grade ...... For me it brings different attacking options , front 9 and 7 ..... It's a building and blooding time for the young blokes, not wait 3 years until Hunt decides its enough .....

If Hunt re signs after he wins the Dally M or at the very least halfback position then he can demand the money he wants. If we sign him you can bet your house he will be our no.7 and cpt.
They say it's out of Nicho Hynes and Hunt. Both are halfbacks so Hunt may miss out on both.

Sounds like a plan. Send it to Albert. He is too stupid to think of it himself.
