Recruitment and Retention for 2023

Finally some good news.
My personal view is that Griffin in the off season was tapped on the shoulder and advised that he needed to mend his relationship with the players especially our young rising talent that had been nurtured from juniors. Bring the players together and get results. It would appear that he has been given the opportunity to recruit players in the positions that we so badly need to make us competitive within the salary cap, hence these 2 players. I am hoping that my prediction that we will have a competitive top 8 team by 2025 comes to fruition

When you say, "competitive top 8 team", do you mean competing for the premiership or just slipping into the 8, like the 2 times they made the finals in the last decade?

ST GEORGE ILLAWARRA V MANLY TUG-OF-WAR HEATING UP

The ongoing tug of war between St George Illawarra and Manly has shown some signs of respite after the Dragons secured Alec Tuitavake on a deal until the end of 2025. Tuitavake will join his new club next week after being caught in the middle of negotiations between the two clubs. Tuitavake, 22, is the nephew of ex-Dragons and Manly forward Solomon Haumono.

The Sea Eagles have granted the former Australian Schoolboy an immediate release. The Dragons remain hopeful of securing fellow Manly prop Viliami Fifita. So far the Sea Eagles have publicly and privately denied Fifita’s request to leave the club. Fifita has a deal until the end of next year. he has been named to play for Manly’s feeder cup side Blacktown on Saturday.

Tuitavake is still on the comeback from a ruptured ACL but should be fit to return to the field before the end of next month. He was contracted until the end of this season at Manly. The Sea Eagles are in talks to upgrade and extend Haumole Olakau’atu and Tolutau Koula.

So he's straight into the top 30?
  1. Aaron Woods (2023)
  2. Ben Hunt (2025)
  3. Ben Murdoch-Masila (2024)
  4. Billy Burns (2023)
  5. Blake Lawrie (2026)

I think #25 isn't in the top 30 this year. So if Alec Tuitavake is #30........ Viliami Fifita definitely isn't coming this year?

Is Paul Turner confirmed in the top 30?

I wouldn't be that confident of a premiership in the next 5 yrs competitive to me would be making the semi finals with a chance of going past the 1st round of games

The Couchmans, Sloan, Sullivan, Amone, Lomax, Suli. A core of real good young players there. I know you know what you are talking about but seems a little pessimistic.

He has Haumono DNA very good news. Starts as a Dragon next week so put him on the bench pronto and see how he goes, but not at the expense of Michael Molo who played a blinding 23 mins last game and now dropped for this week. Griffin you twerp.

Coric, Sherab, Hooper, Corey Ackers, Loko Tonga another youngster named Paulii. We are building toward a very competitive side in five years.

The retention of Hunt has created a log jam of potential halves for us, so this drongo brings in another reject in Turner and instead of putting one of the local juniors in the 30 he puts him in instead. Who is he? Must be a ripper half as this week he is playing fullback for the Ressies.

Let me report the good news before anyone else. The best victory in a decade for the club.
Aaron Woods to depart for Manly immediately. Alec Tuitavake and Viliame Fifita to make a move to the Dragons immediately.

Lets hope they are ready for the NRL now. At least one of them. But either way, Woods hasn't been NRL standard for about 5 years. At least these two are young and probably have improvement in them.

And they may just may give us the go forward that we so desperately need. That is indeed great news on one hand and on the other this is the last roll of the dice for Griffin. He has hand picked these 2 obviously read my posts about needing 2 big props even though they are untested in 1sts fingers crossed
