Incentive, that is the big issue here, not expectations. I may be wrong but the incentive of having the opportunity in your own hands as players to taste what semi finals football is all about is what I would be concentrating on as a coach. My count 5 of the 17 players have played semi finals football previously. Obviously you don't overplay the incentive but you put that seed into the heads of the players, the players will do the rest especially the older heads. My simple message would be you have the opportunity, our fate is in our hands, you are not the pre season wooden spoon favourites any longer, you have proven you deserve to be here now go out there and leave it all on the paddock today. Prove to yourself that you are good enough, today Cronulla stands in your way they would love nothing more than to ensure you miss playing semi finals football again this year for the 6th year in a row. The question is are you going to let them? ...... Loved those passionate speeches.

In my own personal experience you simply cannot carry injured or underdone players into important matches

Parramatta can really help us out here and beat the Broncos. One more team falls by the wayside and it'll be a shootout between Dragons and Dolphins for 8th spot. Newcastle and Canberra are still a chance but I can't see them making it. Not good enough and already behind.

So much for that.
Sharks have a massive bench but a small starting pack. We really need to move the ball a bit once the sharks bench players come on. One out hitups will not be effective. Play both edges but with quick ball movement. It'll be a tough game for us, hope Ben Hunt kicks effectively. If we give away cheap territory they'll have too much firepower for us to handle imo.

Ronaldo Mulitalo is out for them along with Hynes. Even though Hynes goes missing in big games, better to play them without him.

Dont think he or the Shonkies regard this as a big game as they sit a comfortable 6 pts ahead of us and have had the wood on us for at least the past three seasons.

Yeh. His long kicking is so non pressure building as he rarely finds space to allow a smothering chase. Hope our next play maker can remedy this.

I'm roasted for telling the truth about the suspend 5/8 but poor Hunt can't get any sympathy. I've never been a Hunt fan but have always thought his long kicking is very good. Best part of his game followed by his close range darting runs for tries.

Who is as nervous about this game as any game in a long time? Since Souths in the second week of the finals how many years ago? Not the first week against the Broncos because I didn't think the Dragons had a chance.

May have been once when he was nailing 40/20s, but now a majority of his long kicks are down the throat giving the catcher a good 20m of free ground before the chasers reach him. I have seen other team kickers kick low and find room between defenders. Hunts best non run asset is his short kicking game in my view.

I like this as something I have called for. Either he or Toby. Luch looks as tho he needs to shed some kilos in order to play full or big minutes on the edge.
