Round 4 vs Manly Sea Eagles

Team Tips:

Shane Flanagan is set to receive a big boost confirming both Jacob Liddle and Francis Molo will return to the side. Hame Sele, who has been battling a hamstring injury is also a chance while Jaydn Su’A, who was pulled out of his side’s Round 3 clash due to a quad injury, will also likely play. Those four inclusions will likely see either Jesse Marschke or Connor Mulheisen drop out of the team in place Liddle. Molo will likely return to the starting team, pushing Jack de Belin to lock and Ben Murdoch-Masila back to the bench or out of the team completely. Sele’s return will also see one of Michael Molo of Viliami Fifita drop out.

BMM is gone. There is no doubt at all. I'd also drop M. Molo and Eisenhuth. Not sure about Marschke or Mulheisen. I'd like Bird to be on the bench, playing some time at hooker to give Liddle a rest.

It would be a tragedy to see Fifita playing in KOE. I can safely say that your comments about Bird will not come to fruition, rightly or not. The coach would have to swallow a bitter pill before admitting that his Bird move to centres was an error in judgement.

Fully agree on both points. At least not yet for Bird but if he's so set on Bird being in the team moving him to the bench might be the best thing that could happen with Bird. Otherwise he could just get dropped completely. I don't know if it's right or wrong to drop Bird, but I know the team is better served with Lomax in the centres.

As much as I think Vili has potential, he hasn't shown enough to hold his spot.
I know he only got 12min on the weekend but he didn't take one hit up. We had the ball for 4 sets and twice he was in backfield.
He was replaced by BMM, who ran from sideline to the middle to take a hit up within 5 seconds on the field.
No excuses.

Hmmm that's very interesting.... Go with both Couchmans in the 17 for me.

Team I hope Flanno picks but don't think he will.
  1. Sloan
  2. Finau I know he might not have done enough to "deserve" to be called up but we need speed and who else is there?

  7. Hunt
  8. Lawrie
  9. Liddle
  10. F. Molo

  14. Bird or Marschke: I want to say Bird but can he fill in at hooker?
  15. Ryan Couchman
  16. Toby Couchman

Ok sad to know. Perhaps a one on one with the coach may help. I'm retired and only a reserve grade coach but in my experience young kids can become inflated and deflated very quickly. The kid when I saw him at the Titans got about 15 min but he got a pass mark. If the young kids sit down with the head coach and he clearly explains his future for the kid, sets achievable targets and goals, that includes simple instructions your on for 20 min mate, make a difference, your job is to hit that ball up and hurt and bend their defence. Now can you do that? Prove yourself don't hide, show me you want it, you belong. Or something similar. I found those 1 on 1 especially with new kids who believed a couple of games in reserve before 1sts was a gimmee, I soon put them in their place, you've got to get my tick before you go anywhere and I'm not a tick and flick kind of guy.

It's very disappointing. Is he scared? What's the problem? Though are you sure this is accurate? I'm not 100%. By that stage of the game I was barely watching it. But I thought he hit it up once coming out of the corner. He might have passed it.

Problem with this pack is it's bit lightweight, isn't it? Not a single "typical" middle forward on the bench even though I know 15, 16 and 17 can play in the middle.

Maybe a little but I think you'll find both Couchmans are over 105kg. Maybe closer 110.

Unfortunately as I indicated earlier after reviewing our recruitment both Couchmans have slid down the pecking order. Don't be surprised if they are not selected in the first half of the competition

Toby had a blinder in the NSW Cup. So good ol Flanno went with BMM. Try explaining that one.

Well that will teach JDB to play out of position as a prop for the benefit of the team, off to the bench you go. So, F Molo, Lawrie, Sele and possibly JDB will be our 4 prop rotation. Interesting because Manly only have 2 specialist props, Aloiai and Paseka.

All I can offer, and perhaps justamug fan can confirm is that Flanagan doesn't want to rush either back into 1st grade and giving them as much time to develop both physically and mentally for the rigours of 1st grade in reserves

Eisenhuth and Bird have some compromising material they are blackmailing Flanno with.

God help us. The only selection that bemused me made by Manly is only playing with the 2 specialist props. Perhaps they believe that our prop rotation can be sufficiently handled. Time will tell
