Just something I wanted to point out.. we literally won the game in every way apart from the scoreboard.. we actually did exactly what the coach would have wanted in terms of effort and physicality (excluding 3 moments).. we lost it on goalkicking and a couple of poor moments.. particularly closing out the game:

Stats won:
  • Possession: 51%
  • Completion Rate (81% each)
  • Run Metres: 1895 to 1737
  • Line Breaks: 7 to 4
  • Tackle Breaks: 31 > 18
  • Average Set Distance: 51 > 40
  • Kick Return Metres: 260 > 180
  • Offloads: 13 > 1
  • Tackle Efficiency: 94.5% > 86.6%
  • Errors: 8 < 10
  • Tries: 5 > 4
Stats lost:
  • Kick Metres: 611 < 680
  • Tackles Made: 377 worse than 335

Still can't believe that we actually lost this game. It highlights to me some poor decision making in the last 20 min of the game and a lack of a genuine game manager.

What annoys me most is they where a depleted team and their rookie 7 won the game for them closing out the game ...... We were at full strength and had a team full of apparent leaders and game breakers and when it mattered none did either .........

im rly jealous of humphries i knew he had been destroying nsw cup.. but so rare to see a kid so easily dominate first grade also.. a massive boot is such a weapon in this game... if souths had been stuck with sullivan/dodd as their 7, they would struggle imo.

A 3rd game rookie kicked the winning field goal off an ad hock play that should have been stopped before the ball got to him. Nobody in our defensive line showed any urgency and that one moment of its not my job that struck a few players cost us dearly.

You think Hunt's public shaming of Kyle was just him speaking his mind or the result of grumblIng behind the scenes? Does anyone think if he wasn't the coaches son he would of been signed? Or does anyone think if he wasn't the coaches son he would still be in first grade if he was already on the books when a new coach took over?

I am honestly Interested in answers for those 3 questions. W Wild383 what do you think?

Couchman absolutely not. Stewart also. JDB also. His stats speak for themself. And Liddle. Rest should be shown the door ASAP.

I believe JDB has earnt his right he has been playing for years out of position and deserves to be in the pack, his stat's back that view. Young Couchman isn't big enough yet to be playing 1st prop but I would certainly find a place for him in the pack. I think Lawrie has played his last game in 1sts should go. Leilua looks unfit should be dropped until he loses his flab. Su'a in attack is a yes in defence is a no. I felt for Liddle when we signed Cook and still do. I would have thought under those weather conditions he should have played more minutes.

Watched the reserves game and happy with the development of our forwards but still learning their trades.

I have zero respect for Hunt, great heads up footy player that I watched repeatedly prove he couldnt manage or direct a team for shit, was attorcious for moral on the field and then until Shane came along and held him accountable would sit up there in pressers next to his mate Hook acting like it was everyone elses fault and he had no idea why we were losing. So to answer that I couldnt give a shit what Ben says because I think by the end of it it was a pissing match in the media between him and Flanno of little jabs, he wanted out for ages and got what he wanted because of it.

You've had a weird thing against Kyle from day dot and to some degree I get it, yes I still think hes a first grader, ultimately I think will end up as a good defensive lock/14 and thats about it, nothing special. My issue is that it was very clear coming into this year what we were going to get from our halves, they're both pretty non creative defensive players and we figured Illias's job was to play his defensive role and kick. Thats it. We knew that and we went and recruited a shitload of experience in our backs, lead by Gutho to play that role instead. Literally 80% of our attack is Flanno/Illias getting it to Gutho or second man out then playing out the back of it to our edges instead of them doing it, but thats what we got him for. So when fans immediately jump down the throats of the new halves combo as the sole reason we lost, when theres glaring issues accross the park in the middle, and effort areas and lack of direction, I'm looking to the guys we paid a shitload of money to do that role instead. Yes Illias couldve/shouldve stood up and made a play to win the game, but where were the guys we paid big money to do that?

And if you watch that play again it was like watching a bad comedy and his first thought wasn't to kick it
It was heartbreaking to watch it slip away, the ball was on the ground 2 or 3 times and then just ended back with him to have a crack with no one around him pressuring at all, Lids realised and kind of tried but he was to late and the only one who bothered. Was a rubbish effort.

Yes I mentioned that, it appeared that our mob was looking around thinking well the ball isn't in my defensive zone anymore it's someone else's job. Someone will get him but alas they didn't.

Nowhere near the ruck apart from Gutho who found himself at 1st receiver on the last and had to run the ball. If you are thinking of a 1 pointer you set up that structure at least 2 tackles before the kick is attempted. Have a look at the replay , lack of direction and communication led to a nonsensical U16 play

Thats exactly what im saying where are those guys thats we paid big money for to setup and lead the plays, we had multiple opportunities in the last 10 in particular and the decision making was awful. Wheres Val coming in for the kick, wheres Cookie/Gutho setting it up during the set when were 20m out infront, thats their time to shine and direct the fellas when they need it. Very dissapointing and I think the fact neither captain was at the presser was probably telling as well cause Shane was fuming.
