Recruitment and Retention for 2026

Not exactly what we need but Holmes could move to wing or if the talk is true about Gutho, move Holmes to centre.

STAR SHARK SHOPPED AROUND

Sharks centre Jesse Ramien has reportedly been given permission to chat with other clubs and has even been shopped to the Gold Coast. That’s according to Code Sports, who have also reported that up to six clubs have shown interest in signing Ramien from 2027.

The Sharks star is under contract for 2026, so is set to hit the open market in a week’s time on November 1, but Cronulla aren’t opposed to letting Ramien depart a season early. If Ramien exits the club it will clear $500,000 off the Sharks’ books.

At 28, Ramien still has plenty to offer. He averaged 135 metres and three tackle busts a game in 2025, starting in the centres in 24 appearances to help Cronulla reach a preliminary final.

He's ok but is he any better than the centres Dragons already have? I can tell you he isn't better than Holmes.

We have poached a yawnion kid from the All Blacks nursery 5/8 Rocko Walker, who will play Matts Cup for one of our rep sides. Dragons is my wish with his recruitment being to replace Jasais Ah Kee who will likely move up to Ball Cup. In yawnion 5/8 or as the rah rahs term it fly-half, is the prime play maker so that will be Walkers role in the greater of the two rugby codes, LEAGUE..

I am seeing a theme here by our recruiters, to concentrate on Pathway players for our future, either home grown or imports. Makes complete sense as we seem incapable of nailing any top tier guys still with plenty of yrs left. WE already have some talented young kids on our books, now add Rocko Walker.

1 mil a season.
Tino will stay put is my take. Problem is this club is so on the nose that even if we offered him a cool million, another club would offer the same and he'd accept them. I am disgusted that we have fallen so low and can only blame poor management at the top. Oh for another Frank Facer type administrator to run this once great club.

Just went wrong for him from the start.
Flanagan is what went wrong for him. He was never gonna permit Ilias to play ahead of his son. I called it nepotism then, nothing has changed. If like when we had Hunt, Flanagan is again the play maker we can expect another structureless attack and no hope of a finals berth.

Well if Tino is on $1.2m why would he join us for a "cool million"

It is sadly looking that way RVH. We have no chance of getting any marquee half. Top shelf players and their agents only use us as a bargaining tool when negotiating with other clubs they prefer to be signed by. We have to create our own marquees from our nursery of kids. They will become our future and hopefully love to be a Dragon for years.

I'm not fussed about guys like Tino, Pezet, Metcalf, Nelson. A second tier external prop with less to pay for but willing to help us out is what I want.

If we had a Frank Facer type for the past decade or so and up to including now, we would not be in this shit which is becoming very smelly to the nose to players and their agents. The real problem is that joint venture/merged clubs so far have not been successful - that is, they have not dominated the games week in and out since being combined as one and that includes the Wests Tigers and the Northern Eagles. Manly became the Sea Eagles and now the North Sydney Bears the Perth Bears. We might have to change our logo to be the South Coast Dragons or what not??
