Domestic season is underway with the oh so tedious 50 overs in play. Red ball (Shield) starts on Oct 8.
Dont be sad about this mate. Fact is the Blues Shield selectors have broken me by dropping several promising players from the '24/5 contract list. Am now so pissed off that thinking seriously about following another state this season. Now that is sad.Red ball (Shield) starts on Oct 8.
They had a a shocker Edward, nothing else to say. What happened with the cricket last night? Australia handed an all-time thrashing. How did it happen?
Dont confuse white ball with red ball cricket. Tho Smith is nearing the end of an incredible red ball Test career he is still better technically than Head who is one of the best white ballers in the world at the moment. Is the unheralded Travis Head by far Australia's best batsman now? Has left Steve Smith in the dust.
Has to be the aggressive head to make up for the mostly too passive Smith and Labuschagne.State cricket is also underway for another season. Most interest is in finding the next Test opener after Dave Warner retirement. Candidates Travis Head (SA), Cameron Bancroft, Sam Whiteman (WA), Matt Renshaw (Qld). Yesterday 19 year old Sydney native Sam Konstas put up his name with a first time century (152). Two years ago he broke his club, Sutherland, all time season batting record at a tender 17 yrs.
Forgive the delay Edward. Head is aggressive but is suss against the moving new ball. Be a mistake to pick him to open. Passive is good in red ball cricket, the more patience the more runs scored.Has to be the aggressive head to make up for the mostly too passive Smith and Labuschagne.
Isn't Abbott the one who had that unfortunate incident with Phil Hughes? Good to see he didn't let it bring him down. But I agree Green has too much potential to be dropped just yet. He's only 23 or 24, isn't he?Let me start by saying I like him but I can’t believe the call for Abbott to replace Green in the test team after taking four wickets today against the Vics.
Good cricketer who is a good fielder, inconsistent batsman who would be found out batting at 6/7 & probably needs conditions to suit with the ball against world class players in the test arena.
He is & it took him a couple of years to get over it.Isn't Abbott the one who had that unfortunate incident with Phil Hughes? Good to see he didn't let it bring him down. But I agree Green has too much potential to be dropped just yet. He's only 23 or 24, isn't he?
Either can I. As you say his bowling is state class maybe even FC, but his batting certainly is not. Aaron Hardie is my choice to replace Green, but the selectors have said there will be no additional all rounders picked, preferring six specialist bats.I can’t believe the call for Abbott to replace Green
Yes, must have been a traumatic time for Sabba, the fact he came thru it is credit to the guy. I think he has become a CA pet due to this tragic incident to be honest. He is & it took him a couple of years to get over it.
Still prefer Carey to Inglis.Nathan McSweeney has won the coveted opening spot for first BGT Test which I see as a no brainer by George and the boys (selectors) to finally abandoned mediocrity and age for promise and youth. Now guys pick and stick, no fewer than 10 matches for McS and Inglis to cement their places.
Oh yes Carey has cemented his Test spot for as long as he wants while Inglis is the reserve batsman for the first two matches and when and if he is needed will take the white ball gloves.Still prefer Carey to Inglis.
