Morgan
SGI NSW Cup
Good fightback by South Africa. This might turn into a close game.
At first it was good to see a pitch on which bowlers had the advantage but it's pretty quickly turned out that pitch a little too friendly for bowlers. You have been following the series Morgan.
The 2 day match was what we term a minefield for batsmen. That means a ball with your name on it could come at any moment regardless of how good a technique of the player.
The new Test is at the drop in MCG and looks to be a good grassy surface with something it it for both bowler and batter. After that come back partnership by Sth Africa you posted about, Cameron Green decimated their batting to take his first ever 5 wicket haul and have his name printed on the MCG Honors Board.
Since when did SA become so bad? Seems just last year Smith and Warner were caught cheating to try and beat them.At first it was good to see a pitch on which bowlers had the advantage but it's pretty quickly turned out that pitch a little too friendly for bowlers.
The big story today is what is going to happen with Warner. Another 2 failures here will see the pressure ramp up to almost unbearable levels for selectors.
That was more like about 6 years ago and in that time they've obviously lost some key players. They are on a bit of a down cycle at present but they'll be back.Since when did SA become so bad? Seems just last year Smith and Warner were caught cheating to try and beat them.
So the one-day games are going to start when the NRL season is already underway. That sux!Australia Men in 2023-

..fraid so. There will still be domestic white ball before that.So the one-day games are going to start when the NRL season is already underway. That sux!
Strange. I would have thought international one-day cricket is the main money-making for CA...fraid so. There will still be domestic white ball before that.
There are but CA does not want to acknowledge them yet. There is a saying it is harder to be let go from the Test side than to be let in. This is the case with guys such as Warner being kept on well past their used by date, specially for overseas series. He has always been a home track bully and it is here that his career has had its most upside. So it is this upside that sees him continue to be picked for all away series too. Two this year to India and England. He should not be on either.David Warner failed again. That's the problem with Australian cricket selectors. A player like Warner who has had an amazing career is obviously well past his best. He fails again and again for 2 years but just as the pressure is really on the selectors to act, he scores 200. A bit lucky but not many can make 200 without a bit of luck. And that makes him safe for another 2 years. He will stay on as long as he can as I think there is no offer in the IPL for him. Time the selectors gave a young player a go.
And this has nothing to do with Warners age. I don't care how old he is as long as he's consistently scoring runs. Maybe RedVHeartbeat heartbeat would know if there just aren't any better options.
Warner has made it clear he will have to pushed. He won't just leave. If Warner doesn't have enough money to set him and his family up for life, he has squandered it. Time to give someone else a go. With the World Cup coming up this year, Australia needs an opener scoring quickly and consistently, like Warner did for many years but no longer does. There are but CA does not want to acknowledge them yet. He will be part of our World Cup. White ball has always been his forte and he still has the ability to score fast if the conditions are batting friendly. It is Test cricket where perfect hand/eye co ordination is required, along with a solid technique to counter the moving ball, both of which Warner no longer possesses. With the World Cup coming up this year, Australia needs an opener scoring quickly and consistently, like Warner did for many years but no longer does.
I'm not against it but I just hope he can wind back the clock because if Australia is to go anywhere near winning, we'll need him firing. He will be part of our World Cup. I'd much appreciate it. In the football season I don't seek out any news on it but if you put it here, that would be outstanding. You guys want me to post anything on the Ashes that starts on Friday in England.
