Seems the halves combo of Nicholas Quinn and Ashton Ward has turned round our Flegg's season , today knocking off fifth placed Storm. Their second consecutive win against a greater rated opposition.
Herring has also been going really well in the NSW Cup. He just needs to improve his defence.

It’s been a tough time for Dragons fans, but the Couchman twins produced a performance that not only inspired their side to a two-point upset over the Warriors, but should also give the Red V faithful hope for the future.

Ryan and Toby — both 19-years old — made 254 and 244 running metres respectively, with both notching up over 100 post-contact metres in their 80-minute performances. Ryan also scored a try, got a linebreak and made 56 tackles with four misses, while Toby — who made his NRL debut in Round 2 — made an incredible 60 tackles with three misses.

  • Turner at #1 and Stewart at #6. What's that all about?
  • Both Couchman's have been promoted. Hope the team goes well without them.
  • I wonder how close #4 and #5 are to the NRL. Because they are needed.
  • Not out of finals contention yet but unlikely.
  • #6 demoted even after a good win. Interesting.
  • The turnaround in this teams fortunes seems to have largely coincided with Purcell remaining at #9.
  • Related to the second last point in the other side, I wonder if there's any chance #3 and/or #4 are going to be ready for NRL next year.
  • Need to keep winning to get a spot in the finals. After a disastrous start to the year, this team seems to be building steadily.

Last year everyone was asking about which middle forwards are going to be ready to step up. The two Couchmans might have answered that call. And Coric did his ACL in a pre-season game.

This year we are asking about outside backs. Hopefull some or all of Tamale, Finau, Johnson and Watchirs can make it.

Herring just needs to improve his defence.
A defensive weakness seems to be pervading all our grades. We need a seriously good defensive coach, and it obviously is not Ryan Carr. But to be fair the blame is not only his. If recruiting pick the player not only on this attacking prowess but also his defense.

Jersey Flegg Report:
The Dragons Flegg has snagged its seventh win of the season avenging their Round 4 loss to the Sharks.

It took less than five minutes for Dragons front rower Jacob Webster to crash over for the first points of the contest off a shrewd, inside ball from halfback Ashton Ward.
Ward knocked over the extra two from next to the posts to make it a 6-0 advantage early.

An early shift off the subsequent set saw the Dragons race 90 metres downfield through left centre Campbell Watchirs but some scrambling Cronulla defence quelled the raid.

The Sharks answered off a seven-tackle set through winger Kristian Dixon before the Dragons crossed again off the back of a penalty 10 minutes before the intermission through Stewart who reeled in a bullet pass from number nine Declan Purcell to crash over adjacent to the sticks.

The Dragons lead was extended to double-digits the following set thanks to a Ward bomb bouncing fortuitously into the arms of Rumble down the right touchline.

An incorrect restart put the Dragons straight back onto the attack and the points continued to pour through winger Te Umuariki Heremia-Tukere who finished off a sharp, early-set shift next to the left corner-post.

Ward’s perfect goal-kicking evening continued with the Gerringong Lions junior slotting the conversion from inches inside the chalk to make it 24-8 with three minutes to play in the half.

The side’s five-minute, three-try avalanche shortly before the break thrust them to a 16-point half-time lead after a back-and-forth opening quarter of the encounter.

Ward went close to snatching a four-pointer of his own in the early stages of the second half through an eyes-up chip-and-chase but came millimetres short of a grounding.

Rumble slammed the ball down off a slick left-side sweep play for the side’s first points of the second stanza with Ward’s ensuing conversion ballooning the score to 30-8 with a little over 20 to play.

The Dragons lead remained at a dozen but with 12 minutes remaining they were rewarded with a match-sealing four-pointer to Stewart – his second of the night – off a last-tackle, short-side surge.

Aaron Hertsch’s squad managed to come away with a clinical 34-18 local derby win in enemy territory for their third in a row and seventh of the season.

Josh Mansour gets his hatrick for the Jets with 5 to go 46 - 12 perhaps it's time to give some of these young fellows a go we can't do any worse
Would be preferable to be blooding them into a winning system, rather than infecting them with the rot that is setting in at the top, but maybe some enthusiasm might spark something?

Smacked the bums of the equal first placed Jets. Finals bound, but problems is if Ressies are going well their best players find their way into Firsts. So time to promote Tamale, Sione Finau, Herring, Ryan Couchman, Haele Finau and bring back Musgrove. Demote Feagai, BMM, Bird, Ben Hunt, to get the Ressies into the finals instead.
