MCL last game of the year, started pre season late did hammy missed trials.
Used the bye week to get wisdom teeth out and when he got hit with high shot had a mouth full of stitches.
Kid is due for a break.

Although Charlie is bigger he is not a big kid
He Cooper Morrison and Archie Wheeler are all similar builds and players.

Zane Timmins is the intersting one.
His Dad, other uncle and Grandfather are all huge men, Shaun being the smallest of the family.
He may end up a very big solid player but he probably isn't as skilled as the rest.

We need some some super recruiters for Saints Matts Cup as everything grows from them in our jr pathways. This seasons Ball Cup have been less than awful while MC not much better. Recruiters got it spot bringing Latu, Halangahu, LKT, Williams here in the one year, all of which were major contributors to the BC Premiership win. MC needs a similar injection of talent to make Saints jr reps competitive at this level, much like the Steelers are at present.

Roosters depth of young halves at their club is a bit like us with young forwards.

Mareko, Webb, Metcalfe and Rodwell all superb halves prospects.

The guys like Sandon Smith and Jake Elliot in cup are cannon fodder and they’ll get moved on within 2-3 years

And thats not including Savala that Gus mentioned today as essentially madness that he hasnt played first grade until now? I mean Walker is only 22 also.. I guess the roosters get to cherry pick which ones they keep though.

In terms of recruiting for Dragons SG 2026, I mean its only 1 year so its not the end of the world if it goes like it did in 2025.. but its not ideal for development either... like I dunno how much CST got out of it for example... and Dragons HM werent wonderful either.

But I imagine we will be working really hard to add some forwards into that squad for next season.. with CST gone thats the end of that era of big name middles.. that said, the last thing we need is 5 more 17-18-19yr old forwards with our already stacked forwards pushing for 1st grade.. but I guess that is the game.. next time around maybe we only keep 1 or 2 of em.. but we get first pick atleast.

Marley watch.
It's been a while since my last the Bears have lost a couple but came into the semis with a couple of big wins.

Semi final v Magpies 48-12
They started slow with Magpies up 12 nil before they hit their straps.
Marley kicking game is on point 2 tries from cross-field kicks and another from a messy grubber. He also had 2 more try assist, although his goal kicking was off today.

How far away could Heidke be from NSW Cup 2-3-4-5? Could he leap frog in front of BRumble&TRumble&Gudgeon as next man up? First time today ive seen his speed and jumping needed.... the kid seems like hes worth the investment.. hes the same age as the rest of them anyway, just had that 2024 injury.. cant think of 'any' other outside backs since Tamale left (other than Buchanan) that have the x-factor to keep going?

Heidke looked like the superior centre in every matchup he had in SG ball apart from the wests game against Makasini where they thrashed us.

There’s so much to his game to like, he absolutely should move ahead of the rumbles/Gudgeon.

Would be great to have Buchanan/Heidke as genuine outside back depth in 2026, they’re both only 19 YO this year.

Timeline works out well with where Suli and Holmes are contract wise, could be like Kayal Iro from Sharks where they play 2-3 years to harden themselves and then they take to first grade like a duck to water

Both very different styles as well with Buchanan being nippy and quick while Heidke is all power, does have a knack of scoring lots of tries from kicks which is a nice little bonus
