Recruitment and Retention for 2025

Hope we can get 1 of NAS/RCG/Saifiti & 2 outside backs. Val & another good quality 1st grader would be awesome. We really need an alpha middle but none of the market, maybe NAS can become one?
Can't recruit too many with 4 moving into the top 30 from pathways. I think can only fit Val and one of the props.

I've heard knights looking for an outside back, possibly a swap deal with Rava & Saifiti?
I'm in favour but not sure about Newcastle considering he's on about twice as much. Maybe something like a straight swap but Newcastle pay about 50% of the remaining money for Saifiti.

Buzz rang Flanno in the middle of the podcast lol.. didnt seem in a sensational mood... had a good crack at Caryannis though which was amusing.

Justa mentioned he saw holmes on the weekend, so I dont imagine hes talking to other outside backs until/unless that falls over.. its surely more likely to be 1 or more of those forwards.. road trip to canberra maybe lmao or followup on saifiti.. rcg perhaps.. who knows! Or could be none of the above..

I wonder who he's supposed to be talking to. Holmes must be in NQ. Who else? Saifiti? I thought he's already put the Dragons offer on the table.
Josh Schuster? I wonder how the rapid improvement of LKT in NSW Cup has affected interest in signing Schuster.

Might be what everyone haws been calling for, a couple of young players stuck behind big names at other clubs. Like a halfback from Manly or Penrith, a centre from Bullgrubs or Penrith, a hooker from Tigers or something like that. i heard a while ago Bullgrubs want to get rid of JAC due to the overs they had to pay a lot of talent to go there. Tigers also have a logjam of young halves and that's not counting our Jayden Sullivan who is on very decent money for another 3 years after this.

Might be opportunities to raid the Tigers and Dogs for their best young talent.

With Tigers paying most of his salary for the next 3 years, I reckon Sullivan would be a decent depth signing. Now it's almost assured Amone won't be back next year.

Problem is Tigers would surely demand Dragons pay at least half and on the money Bud Sullivan is reported to be on, half of it is very significant.

I thought Sullivan was signed to the UK, but I cant find any confirmation.

I would say forwards would be far and away flannos priority.. but yeah its a good point that he could have gone out to visit Schuster/Volkman.. he cant actually sign any halves though until we clear a few blokes from the 30.. he could however sign them on T&T to come do a preseason.. knowing we will have spots coming in the next 6 months.

The challenge with buying Schuster is.. if hes still a '6 or nothing' body shape, ... then its rly good depth for 2025... but its an annoying coincidence... because one of the only kids who is sort of close(ish) to playing some 1st grade is King-Togia (another 6).. thats why someone like Talagi was so much better.. he could play 6 but also 1, 2 or 3.. we would have had flexibility.

Not a problem at all to sign Volkman (or anymore more versatile tbh) who can cover 6/7 ands maybe even 9, ala Marshke... this ofcourse assumes Flanno doesnt just intend to just keep Marshke. But given Hunt is probably in his last year in 2025.. there could be a good opportunity to bring in a legit halfback for 12mths, ready to take over in 2026..... i.e. go bigger for a young gun... not just a low budget injury cover.

In a perfect world, Aston Ward in 2026.

hopefully someone has a shiny brochure or some models to show blokes the new COE facilities.
