I agree in principle but who do we have to replace Hunt? I can only think of Ashton Ward or Kade Reed but they need at least another year from now before they are ready for first grade.
I go with the guy we got from the Bears just can't think of his name played a full game against Penrith when we beat them ( yes I know they had players missing ) I thought he had a great game , but haven't seen him since ...... Leave him there until we find someone get rid of Hunt he is a liability .......

So leaving Kyle at 5/8 or go with a makeshift halfback and makeshift 5/8? Kyle has to go. That is our most pressing issue by far. I agree Hunt also needs to go but we have no one to replace him. Marshke is a 5/8. Bird can also play 5/8. Nu Brown has also played 5/8 at NRL level as a stopgap measure. None have played 1/2 except Marshke for one game in which he did ok. Surprised me and made me think of how much better the team would be if he replaced Flanno to play in his natural position.

Dean Young should be our head coach. You only have to listen to the passion in his words about wearing the iconic Red V jumper and how you 'play to the final whistle and never give up'. Flanagan has failed to lift our boys to that level.

His usual game is 100m, ran that again. Was down in the tackle count tho.
Blake did ok. His usual game of working hard but not causing any fear for the opposition with the ball or in defence.
The misses tackles are not good, but Flanagan has made , betting no less than double the tackle count as Hunt and plenty of important ones too.
But his attack is also diabolical. No ball skills, no running game, rubbish kicking game.

Bird can also catch and pass. But Bird also break tackles here and there and defending in the halves probably suits him.
Bird is totally useless wherever he plays. TheRev TheRev said he was burnt several times in Ressies, due to his lack of pace and apparent non desire to tackle a man. He has no organizing ability or vision and his passes are usually wayward. Other than that he is a great player.

Think biggest issue yesterday was not using Lomax's edge. I know the roosters are strong out that way but seriously, Lomax barely got the ball out wide and only got one real chance at kick chase when he's the best aerial wingers in the comp. All the best teams use that option on 5th tackle whereas we just used the kick to more or less give it back to them.

Tyrell Sloan 3/10 bad defence
Harsh. You can't lay the blame for all the bad defense on one guy in a loss that big. Is up to the middle defense to do the hard slog and not make the job of f/b as the last line in defense, so hard. For instance three middles made only 43 tackles between them. Sloan's defense and defensive attitude has improved markedly this season.
He can take his mate Hunt with him absolute garbage .

Agree, thought it was a gutsy effort, especially in the air. Just needs to get better at reading the defense- attitude is there but his positioning was pretty shocking at times.

We got bullied again. When JWH got sin binned no one went up to him to tell him to fk off. Hunt, Su'a, Lomax, Suli, JDB etc all soo called leaders and rep players shit themselves against JWH. Therein lies the attitude & lack of back bone in this team.

Flanno is a shit defensive coach, he has no defensive strategy or gameplan. It's all about attitude, pretty much what hook said in his pressers.

Can anyone point out what's our defensive system?

I can answer that :
Flanagan- 16 games - 320 tackles - avg 20 per game. Missed tackles 45 - avg 2.81 per game. Ranked 35/355 players

Hunt - 15 games - 219 tackles - avg 14.6 per game, Missed tackles 50 - avg 3.33 per game. Ranked 25/355 players

So based on those statistics there is very little doubt in my mind that the opposition coaches are directing their attacking structures towards our defensive line where Flanagan is defending.

In the 20th min a fast winger other than the bulky CT would have streaked away from the defense and probably not needed to throw that risky intercept pass so soon.

Agree we have lacked a defensive enforcer since the days of Beau Scott/ Neville Costigan. People believe that Su'a is a very good 2nd rower. Defensively he is awful. I have never considered him the enforcer in defence that we so badly need. My assumptions are clearly backed up by the statistics.

Su'a- Played 14 games - Tackles made 359 - avg - 25.64 per game. Missed tackles 45 - avg 3.21, ranked 33/355 players . So we have 3 players ranked in the top 35 for missed tackles.

As a team we have 2 players who are ranked in the top 30 for making the most tackles: Liddle - 15 games 609 tackles, ranked 5th and Eisenhuth - 16 games - 586 tackles ranked 11th.

As a team we have 5 players in the top 45 for missed tackles.
