Ideally one or the other but under this coach Ramsay appears to be the preferred fullback, Rav will keep his spot so what do you do with the Feagai's and Sloan?
Good question. I rate the Feagai's but they need a coach who'll give them a rocket and insist if they don't get more involved, they'll be in the NSW Cup. I also agree this coach really doesn't like Sloan. He may be right and justified. Time will tell. But he's most certainly very talented.

If Hunt stays, I think he'll be staying for far less. Like 40%+ less.

He may be playing well as an individual but not as a playmaker. He'd be signed on provision he's a utility first, hooker second and halfback third.
Oh boy do I agree with that assessment. But does the Front Office.

Personally if he and Amone were playing behind a pack of forwards going forward it could be a different story. I watched the pre game interview with the Cowboys coach and when asked what the difference between his team from 21 and 22 he said 2 things, a lot of off season tackling practice and defensive line drills and secondly his playmakers have the LUXURY of playing behind a pack going forwards. RL basics haven't changed since 1908.
I think you are a touch torn with Amone. You see promise but at the moment he is not producing that. Probably for the reasons you have pointed out above plus his defense which is on the improve but still needs work.

Here's hoping our new defense coach drills our blokes in the off season until they drop. Then repeat.
He should also seek the services of one JDB who has about the best tackling technique in league today.

Head coach also needs to instill confidence and commitment in defence.

I did mention that sometime ago. The kid is lacking confidence and in my view has been overcoached . The style of play that his is lauded for basically cannot work unless the forwards are consistently making the advantage line. His defence is awful same as Hunt but we are not protecting our playmakers in the defensive line I have no idea why we haven't made minor changes there because the opposition game plan is to direct their hardest runners at both.

Very interesting reading especially that part from the front office mouthpiece.
While Talatau has demonstrated himself as a competent NRL player over the past 18 months, there is significant scope for further improvement over the coming two seasons," Haran said.
Seriously you go from a future star of the club to competant, doesn't fill me with a great deal of confidence

Only 1 year extension I guess means he's on notice.

Did anyone else know this?
2022 Salaries:
Hunt - $1.12m
Mbye - $900k we pay $450k
JDB - $750k
Lomax - $700k
Su'a- $600k
Sims $550k

So 6 players take up $3.05m of this year's salary cap, leaves just over $6m and with that we have to pay 11 more players who make up our top 17. Then pay those other 13 that make up our contracted 30. I have said consistently that team selection has been dictated by our inability to pay all those other contracted players a bonus that each of their contracts have written into them if they make X number of appearances in 1sts. Ye of little faith.

Other confirmed salaries are:
Bird - $550k
McGuire- $500k also going 2023
Molo - $500k

I for one was not aware that Mbye was our 2nd highest paid player, really?, a utility player on that money and in my view not worth that money.

I believe that this confirms what I have been saying, that we are and have been stymied by our salary cap in making team selections. The only two we have managed to offload are our cheapest, Sims and Mcguire.

2023 will mark year 5 that we have failed to make the top 8 because we simply cannot afford the prop we so badly need. It's so very sad.

Bring on 2025.

2022 Salaries:
Hunt - $1.12m- massively overpaid
Mbye - $900k we pay $450k.. worth it if only playing half his salary
JDB - $750k- worth every cent
Lomax - $700k- overpaid on what he is delivering. But is worth that in a decent team
Su'a- $600k- overpaid for now.
Sims $550k- I saw $650K in the paper. Melbourne offering less than that.

So 6 players take up $3.05m of this year's salary cap, leaves just over $6m and with that we have to pay 11 more players who make up our top 17. Other confirmed salaries are:
Bird - $550k- a joke
McGuire- $500k also going 2023- overpaid.
Molo - $500k- overpaid.

Does this snippet go here or recruit & reten thread.

Out recruiters are now certainly looking at halves after Hunt with poached Queenslander schoolboy Jynkan King-Togia being put on a development contract from next year. He joins Zac Herring and Kade Reed on same contracts. No mention of a bloke Eric Eric rates.. Sam Hooper. We have lost one halve tho in teen Toby Rodwell who is rated a gun by the media. Never saw him play. Is he, per chance, the son of Mathew Rodwell who played for us at one stage.

I think Hooper is being groomed as a #9.
