Seems pretty damning. This time it's not just the word of one person against another. I'm afraid he's not going to be returning for a very long time. He's going to be stood down and then he is going to be jailed for at least a year or two.

Damn. Well whose turn is it to shine?

ZACH HERRING (halves)

The five-eighth has progressed through the Dragons’ lower grades and spent majority of 2022 in Jersey Flegg but get seven games in NSW Cup. He had a standout game in Round 19, setting up three tries, running for 112 metres, getting five tackle busts and making 22 tackles. A Wollongong product, Herring is most at home in the halves but can also cover hooker if need be.

He's going to get bail but will be stood down. So it's Sullivan or..... god help us, Mbye.
The judge must be a dragons supporter (jest). So my understanding was all this started over a tradies car that was parked on the nature strip outside their home. It very nearly cost a person their life. There is also a circumstance of aggravation in that at the time of the assault he was armed with a hammer and in company of others. That particular criminal offence carries a maximum penalty of 10 yrs imprisonment in NSW, he certainly wont get that if convicted because of his age and previously good character. I didn't rate him last season so not too fussed about him at least missing half the season. If found guilty the club needs to set an example and tear up his contract if he manages to stay out of jail. The club needs to clean itself up in the meantime.

Not saying that's what I think should happen but that's what I think might happen. Griffin and the head office will use it as an excuse.
In my opinion the coach, the boardroom the assistant coaches and the players all have an input in regards to what type of culture that they want. Our culture is very very poor.

I was much more fussed by the JDB situation. To be honest, I was wondering if Sullivan at 5/8 was already going to be a better option.

My gut tells me Sullivan should get a start now but I'm worried about Mbye because this coach leans towards journeymen. JDB situation was a travesty in my view. This one with Amone is fairly clear cut. Under the current laws if the facts are correct then he has no defence for his actions in regards to a GBH offence.

I think that (Mbye 5/8, Sullivan NSW Cup) is what Griffin would do if not for how much criticism he has copped for his ultra conservative selections. But as is, surely Hunt #7, Sullivan #6.

It was actually the word of de Belin and his friend and to an extent, the roommate against the word of the other party. The other party who boasted about what had happened the next day.

Anyway, it's over now but still cost the team dearly for 2 years.

And according to the news I read, the tradies car wasn't breaking any laws or doing anything wrong. I wonder what prompted such an outburst from Junior.

Conflicting reports.. typical media scrum picking around for the most sensational story. I first read Junior smashed the window of the tradies car. Now he is chasing him onto a roof and causing him to fall off. Why. All because a car parking offended he and his father. Sounds very fishy. I suspect Junior was defending his old man and the situation got heated. Where the two parties known to each other and there was some bitter history between them..

First offense. Lets us hope the judge is lenient given his footy status and suspends sentence with a stern warning to stay clean or lose your league career.

That sounds much more plausible.

They will no doubt when they sack a bloke for bloody well holding a barbie. Wont bother you jo as have never rated him. FO needs to show some backbone and give him another chance as it was a likely spur of the moment occurrence and the tradie falling from the roof probably an accident not pushed...

Agree about Junior. I know JoDragon is a hard disciplinarian so I can understand his comment but Junior was 19 when it happened. Who didn't do dumb things when he was 19? If he is guilty, he will pay a price legally speaking but I hope the club sticks by him.

Besides, if Junior has an aggressive streak isnt some of that the clubs blame as surely it is up to them to nurture their boys thru the junior ranks and weed out any character flaws so as to become respectable pro footy players.

In my day we had posters on the dressing room walls. Inspiration, dedication, discipline, family etc etc. In regards to discipline I used a couple of samples:
Discipline is the bridge between goals and accomplishments
Without self discipline success is impossible, period.
One of the cornerstones of any successful team is discipline, self discipline and team discipline. My favourite saying in any team I played or coached was " It's not just about winning or losing, but to learn about teamwork, learn about sportsmanship, learn about discipline ". Our club, our coaches, have consistently failed in this cornerstone and a building won't stand steady unless all 4 cornerstones are solid.

Discipline definitely seems to be a problem but lets wait and see what his side of the story is.
