  • Tyler Peckham-Harris 52'

Without the origin stats that was an impressive win for Flegg, there are so many guns in that side.. I cant understand all their losses.

All the origin stars back next week, but as I mentioned in another post, I think Buchanan and Williams and perhaps Tonga should be promoted into NSW Cup, the cup side needs to stop playing it safe.. it needs some speed and point scoring ability.

Muhleissen, Hjaltason or <new recruit> is the NSW Cup hooker next year, I dont think Muhleissen will keep his development spot... maybe a train & trial at most?

I think Connor is all but confirmed not going to pn a development contract next year. He's just not good enough.

I don't think Hjaltason will be content to bide his time in reserve grade until he's mid 20s.

Highlights. Not many. Tamale is surprisingly slow. Wasn't making up any ground on the Warriors centre for their first try. Was a very lucky bounce for them but Tamale probably should have ran and taken it on the full. Their last try came about as a result of two of ours taking each other out with a head clash. So 3 tries to 1 isn't as bad as it looks.

Tamale is such a puzzle, he has great attributes and a series of weaknesses... he can break a tackle at will (unlike anyone else in the squad)... yet I still cant find a position on the field that I could be confident he has the skillset to succeed in... I am a little sad to lose him, but there was no room for him unless we could have offloaded Ravalawa or Tuipulotu.

But his lack of pace is I think a common issue across both 1st grade and reserves.. we had plenty of ball to win yesterday but guys like Shereb and Roberts, still not sure about Johnson (hes a maybe), but its too many safe physical players in our backline.. who dont really generate points... throw in others like Egan, Muhleissen, Russell, more safe strong players, none of them explosive or quick...

Conversely... when we gave some of those warrior backline players even half a sniff.. any slight mistake.. and they took off like the clappers.. fast and athletic.

This has been an issue for years. In the last finals win, which was against the Broncos, David Fifita broke the line around halfway and comfortably outran our centre and winger to score.

Slowest and probably oldest squad for years.

Flegg wrap.

Ward was on fire again, 1 try 4 ta, getting better every game. I would have him above Reed and Glover atm.
Finau stepping up again 155 rm
Cyrus played most of game at centre when Baines went off HIA and handled it well.
Jesse didn't get many chances but threw a great inside pass for Ward try. A few errors and surprisingly was beat on the outside by Warriors winger.
Ryan seems to be struggling with the step up.
Stewart work horse 160m 36t

Did Finau come on as a lock?

Unless we are signing someone to replace Muheleissen (and I think we should), we literally dont have other hookers for NSW Cup or Flegg or 1st grade injury cover (for the 9 or 14), I must be missing something, why would Kyan look elsewhere?

Toby Couchman has nailed down a spot on the Dragons’ NRL bench, his twin brother Ryan is pushing hard for a recall in NSW Cup. The 20-year-old earned NRL selection in Round 13, was 18th man in Round 14 and has since returned to Cup.

Couchman was once again the Dragons’ biggest workhorse in the loss with 269 running metres — 114 post-contact — as well as four tackle busts and 37 tackles, five misses.

19-year-old five-eighth Lyhkan King-Togia also had some nice moments with two linebreak assists, 148 running metres and 21 tackles, one miss. Kyng-Togia graduated from the Illawarra Steelers’ SG Ball side earlier this year.
