NSW Cup and Jersey Flegg, 2024

Unless we are signing someone to replace Muheleissen (and I think we should), we literally dont have other hookers for NSW Cup or Flegg or 1st grade injury cover (for the 9 or 14), I must be missing something, why would Kyan look elsewhere?
He's 20 years-old but stuck behind 2 veteran hookers for another 2 years at least.

Toby Couchman has nailed down a spot on the Dragons’ NRL bench, his twin brother Ryan is pushing hard for a recall in NSW Cup. The 20-year-old earned NRL selection in Round 13, was 18th man in Round 14 and has since returned to Cup.

Couchman was once again the Dragons’ biggest workhorse in the loss with 269 running metres — 114 post-contact — as well as four tackle busts and 37 tackles, five misses.

19-year-old five-eighth Lyhkan King-Togia also had some nice moments with two linebreak assists, 148 running metres and 21 tackles, one miss. Kyng-Togia graduated from the Illawarra Steelers’ SG Ball side earlier this year.
By now the selection of BMM, RFM, Eisenhuth in front of Ryan is just Flanno engaging in a bit of black comedy.

Can King-Togia goal kick?

A master class from Ashton Ward (above) in Flegg Cup. If we want a future play maker/game manager at #7, we dont have to look any further than our own front yard BOD. Wake up Flanagan and give him a crack.

  • #15 back to the bench but #12 starting in the backrow. Interesting. I guess both are on the way out so it doesn't really matter.
  • Good to see #4 recalled to NSW Cup. Shouldn't have been dropped back after his first game.
  • Can #6 goal kick?
  • #3 is a new name, isn't he?
  • #11 needs to get a run in NSW Cup as well!
  • My memory isn't what is used to be but aren't #5, #6, #8, #13, #16 and #17 all from the SG Ball team?

Fantastic opportunity for LKT, cant wait to see what he can do with his hands on the ball.. loves running into space... no idea if he can catch a ball though..... could be a master-stroke but definitely worth an experiement... no point spending time with Tamale anymore, he can just play wherever we need.

As for NRL opportunity, if anything this is a more direct path for LKT into first grade.. Sloan has no lock on that jersey.. I reckon LKT will get one of the development spots next year.. could be wrong but it must be close.

Edit: Just checked, no tv coverage.. just had about 3 weeks in a row till now.

I thought Rumble might be the future fullback. I've just about had enough of Sloan. He has a ton of skill but his main skill is avoiding contact.

I think Rumbles injuries/illnesses this year set him back a little, you'd think he will play #1 for nsw cup either later this year or more likely next.. if he gets injured I think TPH will jump into his spot... that would be intriguing..

But a bit like Mat Feagai and Tamale, playing fullback is a chance to get your hands on the ball in space and open up your game a bit.. might not work with LKT but the kid loves running in space.. be a good experiment anyway.. and assumably it means Marshke is back in the squad who is a big in.

I will say that as good as Tamale looks running the ball back @fullback.. and he looks amazing.. it doesnt seem to have done much in terms of us scoring tries as a team, maybe not his fault mind you.. but just questioning whether he has the skillset for the position?

I think he's just not fast enough. Not fast enough to skip out to the outside of opposing centres and create an overlap. As all the best fullbacks do. Also his ball skills aren't that good. He's just a strong runner of the ball. Might end up in the forwards for Canberra.

Agreed, and I think thats why we let him go.. he is only 19 and he busts tackles easily.. and he has footwork... but there is no position that ideally suits him.. you could argue the same about Lomax though.... but maybe you're right.. maybe a 2nd rower if he keeps bulking up.

I reckon Lomax could be made prop and would still go ok. Though he's definitely good in a number of positions but not great in any.

You are a pup in age terms and your memory is going, imagine what is happening to the marbles of an old fart like me . Yes all are Ball Premiers, soon to be Flegg full timers or perhaps some will skip a grade and go into Ressies.

Stanley- Traill in the centres? Finau Latu gets a run on gig at lock while Nick Quinn is building his portfolio at #14. Toby Miller I dont know either.
