Finau has his second. Now his triple. Take note Flanagan. Looking like 46-16 will be the final score. A powerhouse last 20 Dragons to blow the Maggie chicks off the park . Jesus Sione aint finished bringing up his quaddie on the siren. 52/16.

4 tries to Finou both reserves and jersey flegg win today. Poor Jayden Sullivan now playing reserves with the Magpies and copped a flogging. As I said promise and talent will only get you so far that final step has found out many a promising young players out .

NSW Cup Notes:
Although it was 52-16 in the end, the win wasn't quite as dominant as it seemed.. it was tit for tat early before some things came off for us, 1on1 brilliance from Tamale etc.. and the Magpies errors omg.. just unforced errors again and again.. coupla lucky calls for us also.. dont get me wrong we were by far the better side against the team coming last... who probably have quite a few playing 1sts atm.

Usual performance from everyone, but some individual comments:

o Ben Johnson had some rly good moments in defence and attack.. seems to be growing into his reserve grade position.. maybe a T&T next year dunno.. depends if were keeping Max.. but i think Johnson can play both sides..

o LKT chiming into the line nicely, seems to get the decision right most of the time.. and a good 1on1 tackle... my only criticism is hes kinda chunky, so he doesnt have the acceleration to make the most of his fancy footwork.. if he was faster he would destroy teams.. but next year probably hes the 6 where he doesnt need quite as much pace.. and lets see where it goes.. one of his best games though, playing fullback is forcing his involvement and I think it is helping to accelerate his development.

o Nu Brown was pretty good at 6 again.. left foot kicker... and goalkicks were much more reliable than Glover which made a huge difference... like he was a big part of this win today.. hes probably a better 6 'today' than LKT is for us, but hes also probably gone end of season.

o RyanC was the lock and made huge metres and PCM... hes like the thinnest forward out there.. but his metres defy his frame, but on report for a bit if a dumb shoulder charge tackle in the 2nd half... will hurt the team if hes suspended.

o Tonga came on with 30 to go, coupla good runs but neither team could hold the ball to get some momentum... I think Ive seen 1 run with a head of steam in 3 games... he is slow to get going so the timing is rly important of that run and pass, definitely havent seen the best of him yet but for his age I think hes a great bench impact player.

o Fifita - im always harsh on him but tbf I should give him props for todays game.. had 2 runs in each half, all 4 were world class stuff.. blokes falling off feet keep going etc.. he always does that.. but usually errors and missed tackles come off the back of it.. but he was rly good today with his limited impact.

o SFinau was solid.. of the 4 tries.. 1 was an intercept, 1 was a weird one where Tamale ran the length and wanted to improve the position so he stopped before scoring and had to pass it to him, just did his job.. heavily strapped on that leg, but seemed to come thru ok.. almost got chased down by Naden on his intercept but got it done.. hes just quick enough imo for a winger.. and obviously a lot more than we have currently in 1st grade.

Toby C is like that in first grade. Seems small compared to most forwards but something about the way he runs or something about how strong he is or some combination of things obviously makes him hard to tackle.

but hes also probably gone end of season.
He was not on the off contract list I posted the other day, from memory. Reckon Brown'd make a good utility and he also looks a useful goal kicker to replace Zac. Tho TheRev could tell us how many of his 7 conversions today were difficult side line ones.

1 was an intercept,
I read Sione is a bit of a intercept specialist. Tells me he chooses carefully when to leave his wing to pluck the ball from the opposition and is not left grasping at thin air as his opposite heads to the line, like what happens with Rava and Feagai. Saw CT caught napping couple times last week too.

Strong leg drive, pace and determination I reckon. They have the ability to bounce off defenders, much like a pinball. Amazed me when I saw Toby do it in a game from about 15 out and score. Expect Ryan does it too.

Think in JDB's interview, the Couchmans got a mention as being ridiculously strong, but Coric I think was close to the strongest.. he prob mentioned a few others ive forgotten.... Zac I think is considered the best all rounder in terms of strength and wrestling etc.

Only 4 carries but he showed he is a weapon with ball in hand and can play mistake free footy. If a coach could get Vili to make 14 carries, 7 a half instead, then he'd be a world beater. He can also hit like a sledge hammer in the tackle.

But not much of a weapon when he can't do much more of it.

o I tried hard to find the JDB interview.. cant find it.. I swear it was a day before he re-signed, I remember it because he said he hoped to resolve things in the next 1-2 weeks.. but then boom it was done.

o Was probably more than 4 runs for Fifita, I prob missed some, plus he did walk onto a pass untouched into a yawning gap for a try.. ill definitely be bummed if we let him go and those 4 great runs become 6 or 8 or 10.. but im more inclined to just back Tonga, Latu etc.. even though they are a few years behind. There was a rumour Fifita was keen to move back to Sydney. not sure if true.. but if it is.. its an easy solution.. and would make it easier to sign that 2nd top grade prop which Flanno is after.

Flegg game standouts were Nick T and Cyrus both coming up with multiple big plays.
Finau was also strong.
Hamish on report for hipdrop will probably miss a few weeks.
Jesse scored two late tries but I'm not sure it will be enough to stop him being dropped for TK. He dropped 2 balls in our own 20 that led to Tigers tries.

o Williams my man not taking his opportunities.. Rly hoping it's just a matter of more time to resolve whatever issues r holding him back. Worth investing in someone with that speed and size.

o Having another Finau is so confusing, wonder if he will find his way into cup soon..

o did Halangahu make an impact finally back in the side?

A couple of bad mistakes but how was the rest of his game? Strong carries?

Nick T surely can't be far away from NSW Cup, can he?
