OUR NEW HEAD COACH COMES HOME.

Flanagan also has big plans this summer for Tyrell Sloan.
“Sloan has got heaps of upside, another pre-season of training, the way I train him will be completely different to what he’s done before.
He’s getting older, heavier, stronger, we know what areas he’s got to work on, he’s a super talent.”

Pleased to hear this too. So Lomax and Sloan are certainly in Flannos future plans.

Sloan, Junior Amone, Jack de Belin, Ben Murdoch-Masila, Francis Molo, Jaydn Su’A, Mathew Feagai, Max Feagai and Zane Musgrove will all hit the open market on November 1.

Why this three, all have been extended. The others penciled are welcome to leave.

Flanno is after a top end hooker, two middle forwards and two outside backs. No mention of props or edge forwards. We certainly need an experienced, but not past it, book end if they release Musgrove who has barely had a fair show under Griffin or Carr..

After reading the article, exactly the first thing I thought. But come next year, from round 1, he had better not be scared. If he is, needs to become a touch footy specialist and forget the NRL.

Flanagan is determined to keep Ben Hunt

This I dont wanna hear, a bit of a head scratcher. Dont bother sitting down with the arrogant disloyal sook Flanno.

but talking the talk in order to secure a player swap isn't a bad tactic.
Ideal if that is what Flanno is planning. I see this informal chat as him trying to change Hunt's mind over leaving, end of story. Sorry to say, regardless which coach we have, they are going to piss off us fans with some of their decisions.

I think Hunt's mind is made up. He wants out. Most of the rest of the playing group has no time for him. So either keep him draining the salary cap to play in the NSW Cup, just let him go or use him as a bargaining chip to negotiate a player swap.

Use him as a bargaining chip may as well get something out of his last 6 years. Bring in Flannos boy he will play well for dad

That last sentence in green nails it for mine...finally someone prepared to tell the truth and get to the root of the problem and not scared to make some tough decisions to achieve it.
I wonder who he has in mind.

Jack de Belin

Jack de Belin has activated a player option for 2024. The 32-year-old recently played his 200th game in the Red V after debuting for the club in 2011.

Sign him for 1 more year!

Mikaele Ravalawa

Ravalawa has signed a contract extension that includes an activation of his player option for 2024 as well as an extended contract through the 2025 and 2026 seasons. Ravalawa has so far scored 13 tries in 14 games this season, crossing the 50-try mark for the club in the process.

Been a standout this year but I don't like the general lack of speed in the backline.

Michael Molo

The club has activated an option for Molo for the 2024 season. The 26-year-old debuted in 2022 before cementing himself as a key part of the Red V’s forward rotation across 12 games so far in 2023.

Not bad but surprised he was extended.

Dylan Egan

The 19-year-old Gerringong Lions junior has signed an upgraded and extended contract that will move him into the club’s development list in 2024 before he joins the top 30 in 2025. The SG Ball skipper graduated to the Jersey Flegg team earlier this season before making his Knock On Effect Cup debut in the round eight win over the Roosters. He has since played seven KOE Cup games although he has now unfortunately been ruled out for the rest of this season with a knee injury.

Has a huge future!

Nick Tsougranis

The highly-rated St George junior was recently selected for the NSW Under-19s Origin side. Prior to that he signed an upgraded contract with the Dragons that will see him training with the NRL squad in 2024 before moving onto the club’s development list in 2025. Tsougranis made a nine-minute KOE Cup debut as a replacement player against the Panthers in round 14 but has since been selected in the game-day 17 three times for three wins.

Hamish Stewart

The teenage middle forward is another local junior who graduated from Jersey Flegg to NSW Cup this year with two bench appearances so far. The Dragons have fended off interest from several clubs to sign Stewart to a development contract in 2024 before he joins the top 30 in 2025-6.

Savelio Tamale

Another member of the NSW U19s side, Tamale has made strong progression through the ranks from SG Ball before making his KOE Cup debut against the Roosters in April. The hard running outside back made the transition across from Rugby Union last December and will join the Dragons top 30 NRL squad for the upcoming 2024 season.

Really looking forward to seeing how he goes next year from round 1.
