No way, Flanagan wants to make him into a great footy player. Even if Lomax goes to fullback, Flanno will have a position lined up for Sloan. Seems it is not 5/8 tho.

No way he can play 5/8 unless there is a complete transformation in his defence. Even then, having to make 20+ tackles a game (at least) will dull his running game.

I think he's a fullback or in reserve grade.

Isn't a 'stand off' a Pommie term for 5/8. Has played there and mainly f/b last two seasons.

Flanagan is targeting a 5/8 to replace the oh so stupid Junior Amone, otherwise why is he chasing two, Dearden and Welsby. Betting tho we get neither even with Flanno pulling the strings. Dead set if we use the Hunt/Flanagan halves combo expect another poor season.

But media reports are that he's targeting Manu to play fullback. I'm surprised. Even if one rates Kyle Flanagan, he's a halfback. If Flanno was letting Hunt go I wouldn't be so surprised. If he could recruit a gun 5/8 and bring the best out of Kyle at halfback, not on much money at all for a halfback, it might work. But Hunt at half and Kyle at 5/8 makes no sense to me at all.

I don't not rate Hunt as a halfback even though his form in the last half of last season was atrocious. I'm just thinking value for money. Kyle on not much money with a top 5/8 on a mil a year might be a better combo. I don't see a Hunt/Kyle combo working at all.

Welsby shows ample ball skills and vision in this footage, slotting in often as a receiver to make plays. Even if we miss Manu and Dearden, the only specialist 5/8 we are targeting, will Flanno want Welsby at fullback, as we will still be in need of a partner for the most hated man at this club..
