I doubt there are any serious suitors from QLD for him..and what is this 'big money' carrot they have obviously waved in front of Hunts nose to entice him to ignore suitors from his home state.

How dare they treat us loyal fans this way for their own gains. I have given my all for this club for more than 50 years. The actions of these irresponsible, self serving suits is now making it harder and harder for me to stay loyal. It hurts so much to see our once great and proud club.. down on its knees. It's still an old boys club who are in it for their personal wealth, not a successful team.
Good point.5 years of failure isn't enough. I just hope News Corp is wrong but I think they aren't. And Hunt will rush to sign it if the deal is on the table as reported. So if news of him signing doesn't leak from next week and it isn't confirmed in 2 weeks, we'll know the deal isn't as reported. It's for significantly less money.
Well said.Well it is being reported that the board has rubber stamped a any cost approach to keep Hunt as a dragon until his career ends in 2025. If thats the case moving forward our halves combo will remain the same at least for 23/24 seasons in my view. My only issue is if they offer him $1m per season how are we going to afford or more importantly entice the props we need to make us competitive. Every knowledgable coach or ex player will tell you their wins are based upon the engine room making those hard metres up the middle 3rd of the park and consistently making the advantage line. I dont think the lure of being able to go ten pin bowling with the coach will be sufficient enough. Time will tell who wants to come and play under the current coach and cpt.
Sad but trueThe Dragons approved an extension offer for Ben Hunt at a board meeting, which could result in the club losing youngster Jayden Sullivan to the Bulldogs.
The Daily Telegraph’s Brent Read revealed on Triple M, that a crunch board meeting during the week was to approve a big money offer to retain Hunt.
“They had the board meeting on Tuesday and Anthony Griffin sent the team home early and had a bit of an early mark,” Read said on Triple M.
The board meeting wasn’t about Anthony Griffin. It was actually about Ben Hunt and whether the club would ratify the contract offer to Hunt because it is for two more years and it is a really big offer obviously.
The board actually rubber-stamped that on Tuesday and the club will now formally go to Ben Hunt and table that extension.”
However, Hunt’s imminent re-signing could cost the club Sullivan who is being courted by the Bulldogs.
“Where it gets interesting is I expect Ben Hunt will take up that offer and he will stay, but that will mean that Jayden Sullivan will likely look to leave now,” Read said.
“Canterbury are sniffing around Jayden Sullivan. He is a good young kid.
“But if Ben Hunt stays as we expect and signs that extension, I believe that Jayden Sullivan wants to get out.”
Former Dragons player Wendell Sailor implored Sullivan and Tyrell Sloan to look for opportunities elsewhere as he does not believe the club looks after their youngsters and he also called for Anthony Griffin to be sacked.
“I know Jayden Sullivan he is a great kid,” Sailor said.
“When they released Tristan (Sailor), he was going to be the next big thing and Jayden Sullivan, the thing about the Dragons is they do waste their kids and their talent.
“There is a young kid called Tyrell Sloan. Whoever manages those kids they need to look to move those kids on.
“These kids have big futures, but the Dragons do not believe in their youngsters enough.
“They also need to go in a new direction with their coach.”
Lets not start burning down houses just yet. All we have is unconfirmed media reports.I HATE OUR BOARD FOR WHAT THEY ARE DOING TO OUR FAMOUS CLUB!!!!!!!!!!!
This is no doubt correct. So we have 2 weeks to know how accurate the report is.And Hunt will rush to sign it if the deal is on the table as reported. I saw the fire brigade at St George HQ about 4 yrs ago. The house has burnt down we need to realise that and start rebuilding. Just my viewLets not start burning down houses just yet. All we have is unconfirmed media reports.

The whole rotten thing has metaphorically burned down 3 times over the last 10 years. Let's just relax a little and wait and see. If the reports are correct, Hunt moved at light speed to sign this deal. So if it isn't confirmed in 2 weeks, we'll know it isn't true.I saw the fire brigade at St George HQ about 4 yrs ago. If this is rebuilding. I dont wanna know what the opposite is.The house has burnt down we need to realise that and start rebuilding. Just my view
No player is worth that money. Did anyone notice that our has been hooker was not listed in the NRL Top 100 earners list. Just what is this club paying him. Please let the rumors about his impending retirement be true.1mil a season.
I haven't seen the list. I think each team has at least 1 player on around 1mil. The top teams have 2 or 3 players on that. Hunt is not worth that because he is a good attacking player but not a good playmaker. A good playmaker gets the whole team playing well on a regular basis. No player is worth that money. Definitely need a ball player. I think Griffin tried to turn Amone into a ball player this year. Not his natural game.So with the same halves combo for the next three years I honestly can not see any great difference in our attack from the past three. I so want to back Amone to remain at 5/8 but with no ball playing specialist I dont see it. He will continue to cop flack when the onus for our attack is on the shoulders of our skipper. The kid is better off in the three quarters, if he stays that is..
His experience would be invaluable even at hookerThe whole rotten thing has metaphorically burned down 3 times over the last 10 years. Let's just relax a little and wait and see. Frankly speaking, Hunt is durable and as he has shown in Origin, can excel in different positions. To keep him is good, just not for 1mil a season.
I did mention consistently that he was over coached and his natural game has disappearedDefinitely need a ball player. I think Griffin tried to turn Amone into a ball player this year. Not his natural game.
I am an ex journo so I say if something is printed by the media is has already been confirmed. If not you risk a hauling over the coals from your editor or worse. Sometimes a defamation case. All we have is unconfirmed media reports.
And therein lies the real issue any good playmaker needs the time and room to be creative. Look at the Panthers but more to the point the Cowboys. Their halves aren't the greatest but given their pack is rolling forward they look like premiership hopefulsI haven't seen the list. I think each team has at least 1 player on around 1mil.
