Tevita Pangai Jr would probably be worth picking up for the right price. He might compliment Lawrie well. One who doesn't do a whole lot of standout things but keeps going and going and one who does many standout things but only for short bursts.
May be a good pick up but I think at this stage, backrowers are needed more than anything. Next year Woods, Burgess, Molo and Lawrie will be on the books. But Sims and probably Gosiewski, Burns and Bird won't be on the books and neither will McGuire who can obviously play in the middle of an edge.

I wonder who the new #1 Mitch Frances is. Probably won't see any game time with both Sloan and Ramsey on the extended bench. #7 Braxton Wallace made his debut in NSW Cup last week and was impressive. Once again, not much point talking about forwards. It's going to dramatically change after the extended NRL squad is cut back to 18 or 19.So #11 Shereb has officially been demoted. Not a big surprised but I keep asking everyone who the club has earmarked to partner Su'A in the backrow next year. Sims gone. Bird probably gone. McGuire (who is a natural in the middle, not backrow), Burns and Gosiewski off contract and looking like not getting extended. So, what gives?
Maybe none of the 18~20 year-olds will be in first grade next year but 20~22 year-olds are looking likely.

  • Max Feagai is back. He was actually the more impressive of the twins.
  • Billy Burns finally back. Might need him soon.
  • Josh Coric has been in and out of the team. He may well be ready for NRL next year.
  • O'Ofou will almost certainly drop out of the 17 when reserves are released form the NRL squad.
  • A big game from Connor Muhleisen will surely see him looking at an NRL debut very soon.
  • Jazz Flavell is another new name but like O'Ofou, will almost certainly drop out of the team.
  • Jackson Shereb entrenched out of the NSW Cup team.
  • Alexander Lobb has been in the NSW Cup all season. I guess he had to make way for Feagai.

Griffin has been in change for a year and a half now. There should be signs on juniors coming through the ranks if he has done what he said he would do.

I heard the club may be looking to overlook Connor Muhleisen and go straight to Sam Hooper as soon as next year. I don't buy it. Sounds like a rumour Griffin has put out there to justify picking McCullough and / or Mbye rather than Muhleisen for the remainder of this year.

I heard the two of them combined are pretty much a perfect #9. Hooper is more skillful, has a good kicking game and running game. But unlike Muhleisen you won't see him play 80min while making 40 tackles for few misses. But I think Hooper's 2 years (or 1 year and some months) younger than Muhleisen is so, I guess it's a good situation for the club to be in.

But remember Mbye and McCullough are both signed for next year. I think McCullough's not injured but has been dropped. If the coach can then put his pride aside and admit signing Mbye was a mistake, Muhleisen should debut sooner rather than later and Hooper maybe next year.

  • O'Ofou back in the starting side. I guess that means he might still be in the 17 when reserves come back from the NRL.
  • Coric gone from lock to prop.
  • I wonder how close Billy Burns is to getting a chance in the NRL.
  • Shereb at prop. Interesting. Are they trying to toughen him up and/or improve stamina for the NSW Cup and then NRL?
  • Lobb seems to have also found a home away from the NSW Cup.

Nope. O'Ofuo out of the 17. Coric on the bench.

Do you people feel the same as I re the lack of coverage of lower grade footy. I like to see the up and comers who one day will be wearing the RedV in the top grade. Unless you actually go to a game expect no more than a few misely minutes on the NRL site. Yes the Ressies are televised but you are lucky to see your team more than a handful of times a year. Flegg should be covered too while if you are prepared to pay an online subscription fee you can see the Mathews and Ball comps.
