OUR NEXT HEAD COACH

And he is general manager of football? What exactly is his position?
So originally Ben Haran works as a Executive Manager, Football Operations at Dragons, which is a Hospitality company with an estimated 11 employees; and founded in 1920. They are part of the Operations team within the Operations Department and their management level is Manager.

Haran – who has spent the past 11 years at the club in roles such as overseeing the high performance unit, lower grade assistant coach, recruitment and football operations – will head the football department.

Haran previously worked at the Melbourne Storm in a number of community and player development roles alongside experienced rugby league types Luke Ellis and Greg Brentnall. It was in Melbourne also where Haran first established a connection with long-term Storm general manager Frank Ponissi.

"My responsibilities are holistic in my role with the Dragons, across all the departments that help this great club operate," Haran said.

Then he became General Manager of football in 2021, Haran credited new Dragons head coach Anthony Griffin ahead of the club's 2021 campaign.

"2021 is going to be a big year at the Dragons due to the changes we have undertaken. There's a lot of things to be excited about as a club as a whole," Haran said. Furthermore he said this " Anthony Griffin was a great appointment for us as a club; his experience and understanding of what it takes to bring young players through is undeniable."

Now does everyone understand why we are in such deep shit.

That makes for nightmarish reading. Basically the Storm delivery boy the Dragons general manager.

Manager of hospitality originally with us. Between him and our CEO Webb I'd have more experience in football than both of those together plus half the bloody useless board.
So who is responsible for hiring these two idiots? It wouldn't be one Peter Doust, would it?

Doust is part of the Illawarra/Win faction, isn't he?
Doust was part of the Illawarra faction. Really not sure who stands where now. I wonder if they have $XXXX to fund the football department but can pocket the remainder if they only spend $XXX.

Doust was our CEO, came from a management background in hospitals. Then we had the oust Doust so resigned eventually and everyone thought that was it but no he kept his position on the board in the background and has continued to influence the other board members who have no footballing background. In my view this is what we need to be competitive. Things we need to be competitive again include Webb, Haran gone, so 2 new board members who have a footballing background . A recruitment and retention manager who has connections with the players managers and has a footballing background, is recognised and respected in the rugby league community that can attract the players we need. A new coach. A new high performance coach, the team looks slow and not 100% fit. Just my opinion

Doust recruited Bennett. After he disastrously made Browny head coach about 10 years before he was ready. So apart from Bennett, everything Doust touches turns to :poop: .

News Corp telling a different story to us picking up Des Hasler as head coach for next year, Jason Ryles still very much in the running, along with Flanno, Young and Hornby. Not a word about Hasler or Griffin. And guess what our useless Board is yet to interview one candidate.

They just need to do something! I thought there's no way Griffin would survive the Gold Coast debacle yet here were, 4 losses in a row later.

Well what a surprise a bus just pulled up outside my apartments and low and behold some of the Dragons players went across the road for a swim and into the surf club. But I wonder where was the whole team and enterouge? Didn't bother walking 10 feet to talk to Rav was walking my dog, and that quite saddens me as a 53 yr supporter.

Did everyone see according to James Hooper, Ben Honrby is the clear front runner for the coaching job. If that turns out to be true...... I've already given up with this board, CEO, general manager so if it turns out to be true, no surprise. If Hornby turns out to be a good first grade coach, the board will pat themselves on the back endlessly. If not, no accountability at all.

Yep taking the easy way out. I don't like ex players coaching but that's just me. We need someone from outside the club an disciplinarian
