OUR NEXT HEAD COACH

Had to have been. regardless, the Roosters are sticking in by saying if we want Ryles we are looking at a THREE FIGURE SUM TO BUY OUT HIS LAST SEASON.
Six figure sum*. 100k for example. With the kind of money they throw around, that's not much. But I wouldn't be surprised at all if this is the case:
If it all gets too hard , they will say we tried , but the only one available is Dean ....... Dont be surprised .......

Looks like Hasler and Flanagan have fallen off the map

The next major decision for St George Illawarra is who becomes the head coach in 2024.

Retired front-rower Jason Ryles has emerged as a frontrunner this week after he met with the Dragons on Monday.

Ryles currently resides in Wollongong with his family so if the Red V take the smart approach and can deliver the right offer then he looks a decent bet.

Premiership-winning captain Ben Hornby and premiership-winning forward Dean Young are the other options with the Dragons also recently holding informal talks with Hornby.

Agent George Mimis is the negotiator looking after Ryles, Hornby and Nathan Brown so and is still extremely close with board member Peter Doust.

Mimis is holding his cards tight but it appears as though whatever Ryles told the Dragons on Monday the club was impressed.

We have been the path of old boys being the coach and it has ended in disaster. We need a coach with runs on the board like Shane Flanagan. He won a grand final with a team with not a-lot of superstars. Apparently Doust still holds the past sins against him which is unfair because he did his time. We have had players come to the club with criminal records and they were accepted. Flanagan and Hasler are the only 2 coaches of any note that are available. The place is in a mess so it’s not a job for a rookie coach.

I think every single regular poster here agrees (I'm not sure but I think):
  1. Hasler or Flanagan
  2. Hasler or Flanagan
  3. Ryles

They straighten up for the run home and it's Ryles by 3 strides closely followed by Hornby on the inside , a further 2 strides behind Flanno and Hook is gone , getting close to home , Hornby closing in on Ryles , but down the outside , coming from nowhere , it's D. Young they hit the line , and it's ........... ?

I can see it now:
We wanted Ryles but he couldn't come until 2025. Dean Young impressed us with his presentation, is passionate about the club and he was given permission to come immediately.

That is the order of my vote. The top two tho appear to have given us the flick. Griffin planned this by pulling some bewildering selections that guarantees us loss after loss so no half decent coach will want to know us and our board will have no other choice but to hold onto him.

A third party, someone very close to Michael Cheika, rang Ryan Webb, the St George chief executive, during the week and said he just wanted to put his name in the mix,” News Corp reporter Phil Rothfield told Sky Sports Radio’s Big Sports Breakfast on Sunday morning.

Whatever they are going to do, it must be this week! Surely Griffin can't remain in place for another week!
