I'm just wondering, is what Ryles was asking the for the norm at other clubs or did he want special treatment?Mate, Ryles wanted the impossible one of his outrageous requests was he wanted to surround himself with his own support staff, now that would mean the board would have to relinquish some of their power and this nonsensical board wouldn't want that to happen. Half the board should be dismissed they are an embarrassment to the club
The norm as a head coach you need to have the ability to surround yourself with people who you trust are experienced and able to help you achieve your goals. The Board though didn't see eye to eye because this relinquishes their power.I'm just wondering, is what Ryles was asking the for the norm at other clubs or did he want special treatment?
Was one his reported $3.2m salary.his outrageous requests
It would have made a rookie coach in the top half of the highest paid coaches. Was one his reported $3.5 salary.
800k a year that was tongue in cheekWas one his reported $3.5 salary.
Would have but even he knows that we are a disasterIt would have made a rookie coach in the top half of the highest paid coaches.
I thought he had retired but if not and if he's still in good health, love the idea.what about Brian Smith ? He might be able to sort it out as an interim coach. I think Doust may have the greater interest if St George at heart but it is also true he has a superego. Forget we ever won 11 straight we need to compete in the modern game….

Then we'd end up with Tony Smith as coach...Love the idea of Smith as football manager or whatever the title Phil Gould has at the Dogs.
Not a bad idea, is it? Better than Young or Hornby at this stage of their coaching careers. Tony Smith is the strength and conditioning coach of the Roosters. Brain seems to have retired. Completely dropped off the radar from 2018.Then we'd end up with Tony Smith as coach...
That does sound promising. What Webb said about what he believes in regard to Flanagan. I'm just wondering if we can start referring to him as Flanno now he's back on the agenda.EXCLUSIVE | Dragons boss confirms Shane Flanagan in the mix to be next Head Coach
St George Illawarra CEO Ryan Webb has confirmed Shane Flanagan is in the running to be the next Head Coach of the club, after the Dragons missed out on Jason Ryles. It was a horror week for the Red V with Ryles rejecting a lucrative, long-term deal to join the club he once played for, […]www.2gb.com
Finally, some hope..
Maybe , bring him back on a short term deal with the agreement that D. Young is his assistant then that shuts up everyone , then bingo , D. Young takes over ...... Nothing would surprise me with this lot ......Seems FO has gone back to Flanagan as he is seen as the lesser of two evils, less likely than Des to step on the Board's toes. But I am baffled why they are now looking at the man they let leave only months ago, presumably as he was not being considered as our future head coach. Could say FO face will be be covered in egg if they appoint him. It is dysfunction such as this that makes this club the butt of amusement for many.
Dean Young has to serve his apprenticeship elsewhere for a little longer, IMO. It's really too bad the club has had such bad experiences with rookie coaches but it is what it is.Maybe , bring him back on a short term deal with the agreement that D. Agree but they will swindle him in somewhere .......Dean Young has to serve his apprenticeship elsewhere for a little longer, IMO. It's really too bad the club has had such bad experiences with rookie coaches but it is what it is.
Read there was a call for a Smith father and son team, Brian as Head of Footy and son Rohan head coach. Evidently he has Super League experience, after he was with Brian's staff at the Roosters. He has also coached Tongawhat about Brian Smith ? He might be able to sort it out as an interim coach. ….
