It was reported this week that the Dragons were in talks with England superstar playmaker as the club awaits the NRL’s ban for Junior Amone.
However, the Dragons will have to look elsewhere with reports that Welsby and St. Helens have agreed to terms on a long-term deal.

If the Tigers can get Luai to join a year early, surely the Dragons will make a play for the immediate transfer of Adam Douhei. He will be out for the first several weeks giving Flanno an excuse to give Flanno Jnr a chance first. And Douhei can also play fullback in case Sloan still won't tackle or gets injured.

Much better than Kyle fuking Flanagan but still overrated. Maybe Amone will get off with a hefty fine and only a few weeks suspension.

If anyone believes that Dearden was coming they don't know the politics of RL. I personally don't rate him as highly as some others so no loss. I'm more concerned that we will miss out on AFB

Probably not worth 1 mil a year but can I say for about the 5th time, I can hardly believe the club, knowing the trouble Amone was in, let Sullivan go?

It's a blow but he'll be 29 by the time he plays his first game for the Sharks. I think he's at his best now and will be sliding for at least the last 3 years of his Sharks deal.

I did mention earlier today that my biggest fear was not losing out on Dearden but losing out on AFB and my fears have been realised.

I understand he's a gun prop. But 1 mil a year for 4 years for a prop who would've been 29 before he played a game?
Haas and Tino are both around 23 for props on similar money.
Need someone but not convinced AFB would've been a good buy for 4 years unless he was able to make an immediate switch?

The boys had better have a good season to start making this team attractive to high class players as nobody wants to play for the dragons just leave (hunt). I have never seen it this bad in my supportive years.

Having been involved in our great game for 50 yrs until retirement both as a player and a 2nd grade/ reserve grade coach I can safely say that although money is extremely important to today's 1st grade players the holy grail is being able to hold up your arm and show off that premiership ring. Every man and his dog knows that the Dragons haven't been a competitive top 8 team since 2014 and won't be able to achieve even a shot at the holy grail. Also don't forget if we were permanently based in Kogarah instead of Wollongong like every other employee it would be far more attractive an option employment wise. On another issue we should have more money in the salary if my information is correct that Amone has been deregistered. What a bloody mess we are in.
