Recruitment and Retention for 2024

Would be a good signing but seems to confirm Zac wants out.
If the case then Flanagan has created many disgruntled supporters. We can keep Lomax and pick up Petaia too. Not sure who said Zac was on 700 grand, as I read yesterday he is only on 550 grand. That means the club is paying Bird more than Zac. That is baffling.

According to some reports, he's on 800k and according to others, 550k. Probably somewhere in between that which is reasonable for what he has done the last couple of years.

Lomax signed a 3mil deal, roughly starting first year on 400k and finishing on 650k.
I know around half a dozen contract values and I can tell you journalists never report it right
They inflate figures when they want a player to look bad and lower then when they are praising players.
Search Lomax for last year in Tele alone he was reported on 600, 650, 700, and now 800.

Personally I reckon that's a bargain for Zac.

The bottom line is, Zac was rattled by that fiasco with Tyson Frizzel and the thrashing he got in the media for it. Zac was dumb and Frizzel massively overreacted and the media just ran with the story as long as they could. But since Griffin was sent packing last season, he's been really good. Worth every cent of 650k.

Well seems as though the Eels are going after both Lomax and Tamale now, forcing us into picking one or the other.
According to Zero Tackle, Tamale is only signed for this year, meaning those bastards could just sign him. I think Zero Tackle is wrong. He's signed for a few years meaning the bastards are breaking the rules approaching either.

Zero Idea usually get it wrong but they are right this time.
Clubs are allowed to speak to any players they just can't talk contracts.
If Parramatta were to approach Lomax which they haven't, they can say we've heard you are unhappy, if you are looking ar leaving we have a spot available and would be interested.

So is Tamale on the outer? I'd think re-signing him is a priority.

I have seen Tamale play, watched his progression from rah rahs to the real footy. In my opinion with the correct coaching, guidance and training he has the ability to represent our state in the centres. To let him walk would be a travesty.

On another note, NAS is reportedly on the nose at the Storm. If that is true I'd be spending whatever we had left in the kitty to buy him and start him at prop. That is if he isn't suffering from any unknown injuries. That would be the big bodied prop that we so desperately need. I would even go as far and suggest we can bring forward my belief that we can play semi finals football this year instead of 2025.

He's not on the outer but if you are Sav and want to play FG and see Lomax not getting a chance you would have to consider a club switch.

NAS is on big money, we don't have nowhere near enough left in tbe kitty.

I thought the club would be going to go with Tamale and Lomax long term but then Suli was extended so no longer have any idea what they are thinking.

Bird isn't a long-term centre. That is for sure. I thought Suli has been really average since he joined us. Though I know he played well in the second trial and first round. The long term backline I hoped for was:
  1. Sloan
  2. Finau
  3. Tamale
  4. Lomax
  5. ??????
  6. Was Amone but now....... Lets see if Kyle can put together a few good games before the club even thinks about an extension.
  7. Was Sullivan but that's obviously not going to happen.

both Lomax and Tamale
The jury is out for me on Flanno. One of the main reasons, is the uncertainty he has put in Zacs mind over where he was to play this season. He is our specialist centre, has been since his junior days. Then Flanno says he is likely to be switching him to fullback occasionally. Now he starts the season in neither position, but rather the unfamiliar flank, where he tears it up in his first game. Best he has played in a long time for mine, because as I saw it, he was on a roaming commission. Not sure that was a coach plan or Zac did it as a snub to the coach for messing him about. Whatever the reason it worked. Personally I want Flanno to go back to Plan A for Zac as he will get more ball from Flanno Jr at centre and wont run around like a headless chook as Bird did last week and wont be gang tackled either. Sorry to be so long winded.
